Job Details Job Location: All Sites - Brooklyn, NY Position Type: Full Time Education Level: High School/GED Salary Range: $18.00 - $18.00 Hourly Travel Percentage: None Job Shift: Any Job Category: Housekeeping Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Housekeeping Associate/Porter Department: Operations Direct Report: Housekeeping Manager Position: Full and Part time, Hourly Non-Exempt General Summary: The Housekeeping Associate/Porter is responsible for maintaining all areas in a decent, safe, and sanitary condition. The Housekeeping Associate/Porter is expected to promote a clean, healthy environment for the staff and congregants. The porter component includes, but is not limited to, set-up and break-down of meeting spaces. Essential Functions: • Provide general cleaning services to meeting halls and common areas, classrooms, restrooms, pantries, laundry rooms, lobbies, and other areas as assigned. Cleaning services shall include glass, (interior and exterior), floors, walls, fixtures, etc. • Set-up and break-down of meeting spaces (recovery, lifting, and placement of chairs and tables to designated areas) • Assist Engineering Department with snow removal • Occasionally receive delivery of supplies Other Duties: • Sweep the sidewalks in front of each building • Empty all garbage and prepare cardboard for recycling • Ensure the cleanliness of assigned areas and floors • Mop and buff hallways, stairs and egress areas and prompt cleaning of floor spills or wet spots created by inclement weather • Carpet extraction • Marble polishing • Operate vacuum cleaners, floor care machines, and other equipment safely and efficiently • Responsible for safe, orderly use and storage of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment • Bring unsafe or unsanitary conditions to the immediate attention of the Housekeeping Manager • Prioritize workload according to instructions provided by the Housekeeping Manager or Director of Operations Minimum Qualifications: • Proven work experience as a custodian or relevant experience • Ability to operate electrical cleaning equipment • Self-starter • Keen attention to detail and commitment to perform duties diligently • Ability to conduct duties professionally with discretion • Ability to properly represent The Brooklyn Tabernacle with integrity to staff, visitors, and congregants • Dependability and promptness • Professional and cordial attitude and ability to interact courteously with all types of personalities • Ability to adhere to protocols and follow instructions • Ability to focus on tasks and always avoid distractions Physical Demands: The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch. Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision to read safety labels, handwritten or typed materials. The employee will also operate heavy equipment at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift 25-40 lbs. Schedule and Hours: • Full-time (35 hrs.) • Work hours could include evenings, overnight, and weekends • Part-time (25 hrs.)
