About the Role TAP is seeking a highly organized, proactive, and mission-driven Associate Director of People Operations to help build, execute, and continuously improve the systems that support our people—employees and pro bono consultants alike. Reporting to the Senior Director of People Operations, this role plays a critical hands-on role across the full people lifecycle. You will own day-to-day coordination and execution while partnering closely with senior leadership to ensure TAP’s people and talent operations run smoothly, consistently, and in alignment with our mission and values. This is an ideal role for an early- to mid-career People Operations professional who enjoys building systems, working cross-functionally, and using data to improve employee and consultant experiences in a growing, mission-driven organization. This is a full-time, remote-first NYC metro-area position, with at least one in-person management team meeting per month and company-wide retreats up to twice per year in Westchester County. Candidates must reside in the NYC metro area. What You’ll Gain • Meaningful ownership of people operations: Hands-on responsibility for employee and consultant lifecycle processes, not just support work • Growth in People Ops & HR leadership: Direct partnership with senior People Operations leadership and exposure to HR strategy and decision-making • Cross-functional experience: Collaboration with Talent, Service Delivery, Development, Marketing Operations, and Technology teams • Data-driven skill building: Practical experience using systems, documentation, and insights to improve people operations effectiveness • Mission-driven impact: A direct role in supporting staff and consultants who help advance economic opportunity nationwide • Flexible, trust-based culture: A remote-first environment that values autonomy, accountability, and continuous learning Key ResponsibilitiesEmployee Operations • Manage the full hiring lifecycle for assigned roles, including job postings, screening, interview coordination, and candidate communications • Execute and continuously improve core people operations processes across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, documentation, performance review coordination, engagement surveys, and offboarding • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including personnel files, PTO tracking, and performance documentation • Support administration of employee benefits, including health and dental insurance • Partner with the Senior Director of People Operations to implement HR policies and ensure compliance with employment laws and best practices • Serve as a point of contact for day-to-day employee questions, exercising sound judgment and discretion • Support planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs Pro Bono Consultant Operations • Manage end-to-end interview coordination and onboarding for pro bono consultants, including scheduling, documentation, Salesforce records, and required materials • Maintain accurate data on consultant availability, skills, interests, and engagement; proactively flag staffing gaps or future risks • Partner with People, Talent, Service Delivery, and Development leaders to support recruitment, screening, and onboarding cycles • Administer and continuously improve consultant training and onboarding experiences using feedback and documented best practices • Support initiatives that increase consultant engagement, satisfaction, retention, and utilization • Coordinate engagement programming, professional development opportunities, and community-building events; track participation and outcomes • Administer annual satisfaction surveys, synthesize findings, and track follow-up actions • Manage consultant communications (newsletters, updates, intranet content) in partnership with Marketing Operations • Support exit interviews and capture engagement and impact insights from TAP alumni • Identify operational gaps and recommend practical improvements across people and talent operations • Use data, documentation, and systems to drive continuous improvement • Collaborate across Service Delivery, Marketing Operations, Technology, and Talent teams to ensure effective coordination and clear handoffs Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university • 2–3 years of experience in people operations, HR administration, talent operations, or a related role • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with excellent attention to detail • Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders in a fast-paced environment • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Comfort working with HR systems and databases (Salesforce experience a plus) • Commitment to TAP’s mission, values, and equity-centered work Compensation & Benefits • Salary: $55,000–$60,000, commensurate with experience • Discretionary, performance-based bonuses may be offered • Generous PTO + 10 paid holidays + 2 floating holidays • Office closure between Christmas and New Year’s • Health and dental insurance • 403(b) retirement plan How to Apply Submit your resume and cover letter to careers@theaccelerationproject.org with the subject line: Associate Director of People Operations.
