Our passionate team of developers help shape our studio, our projects, and our future. We are looking for a Game Designer to join the Content Scripting team with a passion for crafting story events using a combination of cinematics, scripted moments, visual language, pacing & dialogue. This person is adept at interpreting vision and working within a larger team to execute at the highest quality level, both aesthetically and technically. As a part of a multi-functional team, this person will help to bridge the gap between disciplines by working with directors and discipline leads to ensure a consistent, cohesive player experience. As a dev they will be an experienced generalist who is familiar with what it takes to craft narrative content at the highest levels of quality. Responsibilities: Create & maintain Unreal Engine assets and manage complex interactions between systems, driving towards an engaging and fluid player experience. Collaborate with animation, engineering, art & others to craft narrative moments, systems and experiences that express a world class narrative. Communicate & consult between disciplines across the studio as a member of a connective tissue team – this role bridges multiple content categories. Work with production & leads to plan and prioritize work on a micro and macro scale, actively participating in prioritization, scoping & creative discussions. Help to drive iteration between disciplines with a focus on technical & aesthetic quality, feasibility & player experience. Requirements & Skills: Broad experience with Unreal Engine and scripting best practices, ideally including sequencer, montages, blueprints, and event scripting. Animation systems experience a significant plus. Passion for narrative presentation and the player experience, familiar with the work required to bring this content from concept to final. Comfortable working within & driving the development of systems used to express story, character performance and player. Working knowledge of narrative presentation techniques including cinematic language, timing, staging, performance & agency. Strong technical problem-solving and interpersonal skills. A passion for making games with the enthusiasm & skill to polish to the highest level of quality. Qualities: Excellent communicator, comfortable translating the complexity of a wide variety of disciplines with accuracy and precision. Approachable & enthusiastic about narrative and the technical underpinnings that bring a story to life. Deep appreciation for the various crafts that go into games & a passion for helping to express them to the highest level of quality. Actively engages with feedback at every level & is aware of the overlap between design and other disciplines. Comfortable balancing priorities in a highly iterative environment. Able to utilize lateral thinking to solve problems and utilize resources effectively. (This is a temporary “Project Hire” position. The anticipated duration of this assignment will vary. In addition to base pay, this role may be eligible for other incentive compensation including equity and profit share. The estimated base pay range for this role is U.S. only and not applicable for locations outside of the U.S. The estimated base pay range for this role is: $89,000 - $111,000 Please note that we are only considering candidates in North America at this time.
