Full Description

Children's Hospital of Michigan is an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine. Surgical services include general, thoracic, reconstructive and cardiovascular. Imaging technology designed specifically for children provides advanced diagnostic services including Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and MRI. The Children's Hospital of Michigan Emergency Department is a verified Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center and dedicated pediatric burn center. Experts in pediatric critical care, rehabilitation, and neonatal and perinatal medicine provide care for thousands of children every year at Children's Hospital of Michigan, Children's Hospital of Michigan - Troy and six ambulatory sites. Job Summary: Provides analytic support for current and conceptual clinical business programs, to include providing support in the development, implementation, analysis, decision-making and evaluation of the programs. Correlates and communicates the effectiveness of financial impact on patient services strategic planning initiatives, new programs and related technology acquisition, patient care delivery models, facility needs, contracts and consultative services. This will include the development of business Pro formas for clinical programs, collaborating with managed care/finance, etc. to ascertain reimbursement for new service lines. Responsible for the tracking and administration of grants. Provides facilitation and direction for new technology acquisition and planning. Creates and oversees business and financial implementation of short and long term clinical program development and strategies for Ambulatory Services, including budgeting, internal controls, timely reporting and process improvement. Provides analytic and strategic support in consulting with Ambulatory Services administrative team regarding the selection, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of systems that support patient care processes. Provides consultative strategic analysis in collaboration with Ambulatory Services administrative team and finance, in the budget planning/forecasting process. Provides insight in development, organization and implementation of the annual operating and capital budgets. This includes providing prepared budget documents and other required reports in analyzing actual vs. budget variances throughout the year. Provides support in designing, implementing strategies, analyzing and evaluating financial monitoring activities and tools to identify and resolve financial performance improvement issues. Serves as an expert with clinical information systems (i.e. NACHRI, PACT, EMR), providing direction in the correlation/analysis of clinical and financial data (i.e. productivity), producing required reports and participating in related patient care system reviews. Assists and facilitates the Ambulatory Services administrative team in identifying and resolving operational problems related to clinical/non-clinical activities, and providing related financial reports to assist in the decision-making/resolution process. Serves as a liaison to other hospital departments/divisions for financial problem-solving activities of mutual concerns with Ambulatory Services. Reviews and analyzes revenue cycle utilization of ambulatory information systems and business practices. Reviews and coordinates the development and implementation of ambulatory revenue enhancement activities. Identifies and assists in the resolution of weaknesses that impact the revenue cycle. 1. Bachelor's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 2. Three to five years of related operations, finance or process improvement experience. 3. Certification in LEAN, SIX SIGMA or other process improvement methodology strongly preferred.
