Designing complex, data-heavy, and AI-native interfaces across multiple platforms, from concept to implementation.
Requires 5+ years of experience in designing complex products, proficiency in Figma, and strong systems thinking; your experience is at an intern level with limited scope and no mention of enterprise or complex system design.
The opportunity You'd be the first dedicated product designer at Texture, shaping how an entire industry transitions to modern software. We're building the operating system for the grid—the software layer that utilities, device manufacturers, grid operators, and everyday consumers use to manage and participate in distributed energy at scale. That means you're not designing one product. You're designing an ecosystem of interconnected surfaces for different users with different needs. The surfaces you'll own: Dashboards & analytics — real-time operational views, performance metrics, system health Maps & physical world — geographic visualization of device fleets, grid topology, location-aware workflows Enterprise tools — complex workflows for operators managing incidents, dispatching commands, auditing activity Consumer experiences — enrollment flows, device connection, onboarding that hides technical complexity Service design — end-to-end journeys across orgs, roles, and touchpoints Real-time collaboration — live cursors, multiplayer editing, shared workspaces where multiple users operate together This is the kind of work that stretches you. Data-dense interfaces that need to be fast and clear. AI-native workflows where humans and automation share responsibility. Consumer experiences that feel simple despite deep technical complexity. Enterprise tools where the stakes are real and the details matter. What we're looking for A designer with exceptional taste and strong instincts who can own our product's design direction and ship high-quality work at the pace of a fast-moving team. You'll be responsible for: Owning end-to-end product design across multiple surfaces—from early concepts through detailed specs and implementation support Designing data-heavy interfaces: dashboards, tables, maps, and timelines that make complex systems understandable and actionable Designing AI-native experiences: conversational interfaces, intelligent suggestions, and workflows that blend human judgment with automation Creating consumer-facing flows: enrollment, device connection, and onboarding that feel simple despite technical complexity Building and evolving our design system (140+ components and growing) Shipping fast with high standards—prototyping quickly, making decisions, and delivering without endless iteration The kind of person who thrives here: Wants to own the whole thing, not a slice of it Moves quickly and makes decisions without waiting for perfect information Comfortable with ambiguity—can take a half-formed problem and shape it into a great experience Can shift between dense enterprise tools and simple consumer flows without losing quality Collaborates deeply with product and engineering, not handing off specs from a distance Comfortable being customer-facing—talking to users, understanding their needs, and translating that into the right design approach Cares about craft, but cares more about shipping the right thing Requirements: 5+ years designing complex products, ideally B2B or enterprise Strong systems thinking and excellent visual design Proficiency in Figma and component-based design systems Nice to have AI/ML products, copilot-style interfaces, or generative UI Developer tools, APIs, or platform products Frontend familiarity (React, HTML/CSS) Early-stage startup experience (0→1) Energy, utilities, or infrastructure software Benefits Competitive salary and benefits Opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects in the energy sector A collaborative and innovative work environment Career growth and development opportunities Location NYC preferred. Flexible for the right candidate.
