Manage construction projects ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations, coordinate inspections, consult with engineers and contractors, and document project changes.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 5 years construction project management experience, valid driver’s license, and possible PMP or Six Sigma certification.
Performs transportation engineering related work in construction. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work may require contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details. Essential Duties: Conducts project reviews and coordinates inspections with various inspectors and other district/division project managers. Consults with Project Engineers, residents project representatives and contractors' superintendents on work progress and construction problems: reviews equipment, utilization data and time/cost estimates. Creates documentation procedures to capture and deal with changes in original project plan. Works with Federal Highway Administration representatives to ensure compliance with regulations for assigned projects. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year per year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Experience: 5 years construction project management; project management, process engineering and/or business process improvement methodologies. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. May require certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP), Six Sigma Black Belt or one or more change management disciplines.
