Design Project Coordinator I: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Design Project Coordinator II: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or complex building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. [Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives]. Design Project Coordinator III: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects. Design Project Coordinator IV: Provides highly skilled technical expertise and oversees multiple design and/or advanced building construction projects. Reports to a licensed professional engineer or registered architect who has final approval authority for projects. [Leads the work of technical employees and provides training.] Work requires contact with governmental agencies, consultants and construction firms. [Employees are virtually self-supervising and assume accountability for their work.] Salary Plan/Grade: Design Project Coordinator I: B19 ($48,244.00 - $76,028.00/yearly) Design Project Coordinator II: B20 ($51,158.00 - $81,351.00/yearly) Design Project Coordinator III: B21 ($54,278.00 - $87,046.00/yearly) Design Project Coordinator IV: B22 ($57,614.00 - $93,138.00/yearly) The essential duties for the Design Project Coordinator I include: Coordinates design work among TxDOT entities, consultants and contractors. Designs projects, making design calculations and sketches of plans, layouts and typical sections. May assist in planning and coordinating office operations. May schedule, coordinate and prepare documents for public hearings. May serve as a lead worker or project leader. Receives project assignments, determines work requirements to complete project plans and coordinates scheduling to accommodate projects already underway. Reviews and compiles complete plan packages for submission to the responsible engineer or architect for review and signature. Reviews environmental documents. Performs other job responsibilities as assigned. Additional duties for the Design Project Coordinator II include: Serves as program coordinator responsible for coordination of complex engineering/architectural projects from initiation to completion. Additional duties for the Design Project Coordinator III include: May lead project or planning activities of professional and technical employees or consultants. Additional duties for the Design Project Coordinator IV include: Assists in planning and coordinating office operations. Provides training for area of responsibility. Serves as lead worker and subject matter expert Minimum Qualifications: Design Project Coordinator I requires the following: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies Experience: 7 YEARS Design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Design Project Coordinator II requires the following: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies Experience: 8 YEARS Design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Design Project Coordinator III requires the following: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies Experience: 9 YEARS Design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Design Project Coordinator IV requires the following: Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general high school studies Experience: 9 YEARS Design, plan preparation, construction inspection, surveying (Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent) Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. The required competencies for the Design Project Coordinator I, II, III, and IV include: Computer-aided drafting and design systems Applicable engineering workstations and applications to support efficient planning and design activities Program/project planning, development, and management methodologies Building code standards and industry guidelines Performing advanced drafting Planning, assigning, directing, coordinating and reviewing the work of professional, administrative and technical employees Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others Maintaining a safe and effective working relationship with others The physical requirements and working conditions for the District Sign Technician I, II, and III include: Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs. at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs. at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs.
