Position Information The TxDOT Fort Worth District is searching for one (1) Construction Recordkeeper I or II to join our team! If that's you, please don't hesitate to apply! We're looking for a motivated individual to support our construction inspections department by maintaining accurate records and documentation for ongoing projects. In this role, you'll assist with tracking materials, verifying work reports, and ensuring compliance with project specifications. You'll work closely with supervisors and field crews to keep everything organized and running smoothly. Work requires contact with contractors. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Essential Duties: • Coordinates with construction inspectors and contractor's staff to ensure project records accurately reflect changes and agreements. • May attend pre-construction meetings to instruct contractor's bookkeeper on record-keeping procedures. • Monitors on-the-job training program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs; submits required monthly reports. • Prepares and submits monthly and final estimates; checks calculations against work log and estimate form to verify work is completed before payment is made. • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders. Construction Recordkeeper II: Maintains construction project records and processes related paperwork; reviews and modifies contract documents to reflect changes to original agreement; monitors records to verify compliance with state and federal laws and determines payments due contractor for work completed. Work requires contact with the public. Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however, all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor. Essential Duties (in addition to Construction Recordkeeper I): • Trains less experienced employees. • Monitors on-the-job training program and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise and Small Business Enterprise programs; submits required monthly reports. • Prepares and submits monthly and final estimates; checks calculations against work log and estimate form to verify work is completed before payment is made. • Processes change orders, supplemental agreements, and extra work orders. Minimum Qualifications: Construction Recordkeeper I and II Education: High School Grad or Equivalent in general education. Construction Recordkeeper I Experience: No experience required. Construction Recordkeeper II Experience: 1 YEAR recordkeeping, bookkeeping, or other related experience.(Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related college education or relevant technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis . Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Construction Recordkeeper I and II Competencies: • Applicable testing methods, processes and procedures • DBE, HUB, SBE • Writing, reviewing and revising documents to include engineering notes, specifications, standards and procedures • Leading, assigning, reviewing, and monitoring the work of others • Training in a classroom, office, or field environment • Analyzing issues, facts, and available information to develop logical solutions; researching inconsistencies of facts or data; drawing correct inferences from information and making recommendations that support business decisions • Preparing and maintaining confidential and sensitive records, files, and reports Construction Recordkeeper I and II Physical Requirements: • Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools • Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs • Standing-prolonged periods of time • Repetitive Motion-substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers • Close Visual Acuity-work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading Conditions of Employment: Please click this link to read the standard conditions of employment for all positions: Standard Conditions of Employment (TxDOT) Additional Conditions of Employment: • Required to work weekends and holidays. • Required to work hours other than 8 to 5. • Required to wear personal protective equipment provided by employer and comply with all safety requirements.
