TITLE: External Communications Manager LOCATION: Bellevue, WA, Remote Eligible TerraPower is a nuclear technology company based in Bellevue, Washington. External Communications Manager The External Communications Manager will support the development and execution of TerraPower’s external communications strategies that drive our storytelling across multiple audiences and platforms. This role coordinates earned media campaigns, supports company event visibility, and develops high-quality content that connects our technologies to key stakeholders. This role requires a strong communicator with experience managing corporate messaging, event support and media relations. Responsibilities: • Support the development and manage the implementation of proactive communications strategies aligned with corporate priorities, business goals, and regulatory requirements. • Serve as a key media contact; build and maintain relationships with journalists, industry analysts, and trade publications. • Write clear and engaging content that reflects the company’s voice and culture. • Draft press releases, op-eds, talking points, and media statements. • Monitor media coverage and industry trends. • Coordinate external stakeholder engagement efforts, including customers, regulators, policymakers, and community leaders. • Support crisis and issues management communications, ensuring timely and accurate responses. • Maintain relevant marketing and communications policies and procedures. • Manage TerraPower’s presence at industry conference shows, representing TerraPower as needed at such events. • Attend internal meetings to support communications and marketing efforts. • Ensure effective cross-functional collaboration involving in-house and external teams to integrate marketing efforts and communications narratives seamlessly with overall business objectives. • Stay current on marketing and communications trends, analyzing competition, customers and use insights and data analytics to adapt methods for better effectiveness. • Assist or lead other emergent project initiatives. Key Qualifications and Skills: • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in marketing and strategic communications. • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. • Proven experience working with multiple disciplines and outsourced teams. • Direct experience creating content for traditional and digital channels. • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills across multiple formats and audiences. • Demonstrated experience in media relations and crisis communications. • Ability to translate complex technical and regulatory topics into clear, compelling messages. • Proficiency with digital communication tools, social media platforms, and media monitoring systems. • Preference for experience in technology, aerospace, energy, innovation and/or first-of-a-kind. • Work samples may be requested for applicants selected for interview. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across various disciplines. • Demonstrated ability to create communications that are creative and cognizant of change management best practices. • Ability to think strategically, analyze data, and make informed decisions. • Track record of thriving in fast paced work environments and developing and implementing successful communications initiatives. • Proactive self-starter and team player with strong project execution focus, ability to multi-task, prioritize, meet emergent deadlines and execute a myriad of projects on time. • Ability to successfully transport materials, set up booths and staff TerraPower booth at industry events with little direct oversight. Job details: Salary Range Level 9: $102,804 - $154,206 Salary Range Level 10: $117,922 - $176,833 • We typically place offers in the lower to middle portion of the range to maintain internal equity and allow room for growth. Any salary offered within the posted salary band is based on market data and commensurate with the selected individual’s qualifications experience. This range is specific to Washington State.
