We are looking for a highly analytical, self-motivated and solution-oriented Data Scientist to join our Tempus Discover Data Science team. In this role, the successful candidate will work closely with business development, translational science, data operations, and data science teams to explore Tempus’s Data, create cohorts for biomarker development projects, and scale our analytical workflows to help deliver data more effectively to our academic research partners. As such, the candidate will get a chance to work with one of the largest molecular and clinical databases of cancer patients in the world, learn about genomic data science and standardize our documentation/communication tools. What you’ll do: Become an expert in Tempus multimodal clinical and genomic data Leverage Tempus's multi-modal data to identify patient cohorts for academic research partners who are building new machine learning enabled biomarkers. Drive customer-focused improvements to the Tempus data model by collaborating with Tempus’ Data Science, Model Query, and Engineering teams Collaborate with Research, Engineering & Data Science teams to develop and deliver innovative database solutions Document, summarize, and communicate data model, highly technical results, and methods to external technical and non-technical audiences. Base Qualifications: Master's Degree or equivalent experience in data science, computer science, healthcare informatics, statistics, or another related STEM field 2+ years of relevant work experience, preferably involving work with Life Science or Healthcare data an analytical or consulting role within or in support of the Life Sciences or Healthcare industry Strong command of SQL and/or other scripting languages to retrieve data from various bioinformatics databases Strong proficiency in R or Python and/or other programming languages Excellent project management skills, with proven ability to execute complex projects with multiple cross-functional stakeholders Experience with engineering practices for research computing (Docker, Git, and Github, code review, Linux, cloud computing) Thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders Nice-to-have: Experience in real-world data and/or next-generation sequencing Genomic data background and experience Experience with AWS and/or Bigquery and/or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) CHI: $75,000-$110,000 USD NYC: $90,000-$120,000 USD The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience.
