Define and execute the data and AI strategy to enhance healthcare experiences, collaborate across teams, and lead innovation initiatives.
15+ years in product or data/AI strategy, proven ability to lead complex systems, strong collaboration skills, and experience influencing executive decisions.
Join the team leading the next evolution of virtual care. At Teladoc Health, you are empowered to bring your true self to work while helping millions of people live their healthiest lives. Here you will be part of a high-performance culture where colleagues embrace challenges, drive transformative solutions, and create opportunities for growth. Together, we’re transforming how better health happens. Summary of Position Data and AI are redefining how people experience healthcare, and we’re moving fast to build what the market hasn’t seen yet. The Data & AI Strategy Lead sets the direction for our data- and AI-powered experiences—crafting the vision, shaping the roadmap, and making the hard calls that drive real, measurable business impact. This is a high-leverage, hands-on leadership role. You’re someone who loves strategy but isn’t afraid to dive into messy details, pressure-test assumptions, sketch concepts with Design, interrogate data pipelines with Engineering, or pitch a new AI capability to clients. You’ve led 0→1 breakthroughs and scaled mature systems, and you know how to keep teams aligned and moving when things are ambiguous and moving quickly. Your focus: connect user needs, technical possibility, and commercial value into a tight, compelling strategy — then make sure the organization executes on it. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Product Strategy & Vision Define a bold, practical vision for how Data & AI fuel our next generation of experiences and workflows. Identify the highest-leverage opportunities—places where AI can meaningfully improve margins, outcomes, user experience, or operational efficiency. Turn ambiguous ideas into clear strategic theses, prototypes, and roadmap commitments. Scrappy Discovery & Insight Synthesis Work directly with users, clients, operators, designers, clinicians, and data scientists to surface unmet needs and pressure-test ideas. Pull insights from anywhere—market signals, research, a dashboard deep dive, a client escalation—to refine strategy in real time. Use fast experiments and lightweight prototypes to validate direction before scaling. Roadmapping & Portfolio Leadership Own the Data & AI portfolio roadmap across platform, data infrastructure, and applied AI use cases. Break down complex, cross-functional initiatives into actionable sequencing that balances speed, risk, and impact. Prioritize ruthlessly—focusing on outcomes over optics, learning over perfection, impact over volume. Experience & Service Design Partnership Collaborate closely with Design to map journeys, simplify workflows, and shape intelligent experiences that feel human, not robotic. Ensure AI-driven interactions are trustworthy, transparent, and genuinely helpful—not just clever. Drive clarity around how data, insights, and automation show up in the end-to-end service experience. Cross-Functional Alignment Rally engineering, data science, clinical, ops, commercial, and design teams around a shared strategy. Influence executive leadership by framing tradeoffs clearly and tying every decision back to customer value and business outcomes. Cut through noise—distill complexity into crisp, actionable direction that keeps teams unblocked and aligned. Innovation, Prototyping & Responsible AI Explore generative AI, predictive intelligence, workflow automation, and new data-powered capabilities with a bias toward practical business value. Help define lightweight but effective AI governance practices that support fast iteration without compromising trust. Team Leadership Lead, mentor, and scale a small but mighty team of strategists and senior ICs. Create a culture of curiosity, pace, and shared accountability for business outcomes. Model hands-on, sleeves-up leadership—showing teams how strategy and execution reinforce each other. Other Requirements Travel up to 20% for on-site work, team sessions, and customer collaboration. Supervisory responsibility for senior managers, directors, and SMEs. The time spent on each responsibility reflects an estimate and is subject to change dependent on business needs. Supervisory Responsibilities No Qualifications Expected for Position 15+ years in product strategy, design strategy, platform innovation, data/AI strategy, or similar fields. Demonstrated ability to turn vague ideas into launched, impactful capabilities—especially in a 0→1 or high-growth environment. Experience shaping roadmaps for complex systems that span data infrastructure, ML/AI, and user-facing workflows. History of strong collaboration with design, engineering, and data science teams. Technical & Strategic Competencies Strong literacy across data architecture, analytics, ML/AI workflows, and model lifecycle considerations (coding not required). Ability to navigate constrained environments with creativity—finding the shortest path to learning and value. Proven skill in translating user needs and business priorities into pragmatic, strategic plans. Leadership & Communication Clear, compelling communicator who can simplify complexity without dumbing it down. Track record of influencing executives and shaping decisions in resource-constrained, fast-moving environments. Experienced people leader who develops senior talent and fosters scrappy, high-output teams. The base salary range for this position is $250,000 - $300,000.
