Project Manager (R&D / Product Development) / 100% Onsite Required (Redmond, WA) / (6 Month Contract) Onsite Required (5 days/week) Top Required Skills • Must be able to work onsite in Redmond, WA (5 days/week) • 3+ years of project management experience in research or product development environments • Demonstrated risk assessment and mitigation experience • Experience working in Agile environments (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe) • End-to-end software project management experience (requirements → launch) • Ideally: exposure to technical audio, machine learning, or computer vision domains What Strong Candidates Will Demonstrate 1. Project Management in Research/Product Development • 3+ years PM experience in R&D, labs, or product teams • Cross-functional leadership • Scheduling, planning, budgeting, stakeholder communication 2. Full Software Project Lifecycle Ownership • Requirements, planning, execution, testing, release, post-launch • Decision-making authority, KPIs, retros, and phase-gate navigation 3. Agile Experience • Comfort with Sprint Planning, Reviews, Retrospectives • Familiarity with Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence 4. Risk Management • Experience maintaining RAID logs, risk registers, mitigation plans 5. Technical Domain Familiarity • Audio DSP pipelines, ML model development, or CV systems • Doesn’t need to be an engineer—collaboration experience is sufficient About the Role • This onsite Project Manager role supports advanced AR/VR audio research within a cutting‑edge research organization. You will lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of scientific research and software projects, partnering closely with experts in audio signal processing, machine learning, computer vision, and hearing sciences. • The ideal candidate brings strong project management discipline, experience in Agile environments, proven risk‑mitigation skills, and exposure to technical audio or ML/CV domains. This is a highly collaborative role supporting an innovative research program focused on next‑generation AR/VR technologies. Research areas include: • Optics and displays • Computer vision • Audio and acoustics • Graphics • Haptic interaction • Eye/hand/face/body tracking • Brain–computer interfaces • Perception science • True telepresence The Audio Research group specifically focuses on redefining how people hear, communicate, and connect—especially in acoustically challenging real‑world environments. What We Need • We are seeking a highly motivated onsite Project Manager to support an ambitious research program exploring breakthrough audio and communication technologies. • You will own scientific research projects from concept through completion, coordinating closely with researchers in audio DSP, machine learning, and hearing sciences while driving delivery, managing risks, and keeping stakeholders aligned. Responsibilities • Lead end-to-end planning, execution, and delivery of scientific and software research projects • Track progress, surface risks early, propose mitigation strategies • Communicate project status, dependencies, and risks to stakeholders • Ensure thorough documentation of progress and deliverables • Oversee procurement of equipment, hardware, and vendor services • Support operational and administrative projects as needed • Maintain onsite presence 5 days per week within Redmond facilities Qualifications • 3+ years of project management experience in research or product development • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills • Proven ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment • Effective collaborator with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders • Excellent time management and prioritization abilities • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience • PMP or similar certification preferred Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Redmond, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
