Develop and support mechanical designs, create CAD models, perform testing, and contribute to documentation.
Requires a BS in Mechanical Engineering, 2-4 years of experience, proficiency in SolidWorks, and knowledge of manufacturing methods and standards.
Title: Jr. Mechanical Engineer Duration : 6+ Months Location: NJ Summary: The Junior role focuses on developing and supporting mechanical designs, including creating CAD models, prototypes, and test methods. The position requires interpreting customer specifications, performing design analyses, troubleshooting, and contributing to documentation and verification protocols. Engineers at this level work semi-independently with guidance, contributing to both technical execution and project planning. Key Responsibilities: • Interpret customer requirements to develop mechanical designs • Use 3D CAD (preferably SolidWorks) for modeling and detailed drawings • Perform tolerance analysis, prototype fabrication, and design evaluations • Troubleshoot design/process issues and develop test methods/fixtures • Analyze data and support design verification/testing • Contribute to documentation using electronic systems • Coordinate with internal/external teams on fabrication and testing Required Skills & Knowledge: • Solid understanding of DFM&A and mechanical manufacturing methods • Proficiency in SolidWorks and mechanical drafting standards (ANSI/ISO) • Familiarity with GD&T, measurement tools, and statistical test data analysis • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills • Experience with Microsoft Office, Visio, and project management tools • Comfortable with basic shop equipment and electrical diagrams • Understanding in design and development of injection molded plastic, plastic extrusion, casting, sheet metal, metal stampings, additive mfg processes, and machined metal components, and assemblies with high part counts. • Knowledge of Agile/Scrum and Waterfall project methodologies • Familiarity with medical device standards (ISO 13485, GMP, etc.) Qualifications: • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field (MS preferred) • 2–4 years of relevant experience (or MS with <1 year experience) • Experience in electro-mechanical/pneumatic medical device development • Proficiency with CAD tools and documentation systems
