Title: Vice President, Portfolio Strategy & Operations | #21742 Location: Remote (U.S.) | Preference for candidates in Eastern or Central Time Zones Travel: Approximately 25% • * NO C2C** This role is responsible for architecting and executing high-impact value creation initiatives across a diverse portfolio of middle-market companies. You will serve as a key partner to portfolio company leadership, translating strategic goals into actionable operating roadmaps across technology, operations, and go-to-market functions. The ideal candidate is a versatile operator who can both devise strategy and manage the hands-on execution required to produce tangible business outcomes. What You Will Do • Portfolio Engagement: Oversee a portfolio of 5-6 companies, with deep, hands-on engagement in 2-3 key initiatives at any given time. • Strategic Roadmap Development: Collaborate with executive teams to design and sequence comprehensive technology and operational roadmaps (e.g., ERP/CRM systems, business intelligence, automation, supply chain optimization, and pricing strategy). • Vendor & Partner Governance: Lead the end-to-end vendor lifecycle, including sourcing, RFPs, contract negotiations (MSAs/SLAs), and ongoing performance management to ensure accountability and results. • Program Leadership & Execution: Establish robust program management structures, governance, and executive-level reporting to drive on-time, on-budget delivery of critical initiatives. Actively intervene to de-risk or recover troubled projects. • Executive Advisory & Capability Building: Serve as a trusted advisor to portfolio company leaders. Coach functional heads to adopt new processes, ensuring that operational improvements and behavioral changes are sustained long-term. • Playbook Development: Codify best practices by creating reusable playbooks, templates, and analytical frameworks to accelerate value creation across the current and future portfolio. Qualifications • Professional Background: A foundation in management consulting (strategy, operations, or technology practices) is required. Prior experience in an operational role within a relevant industry is highly preferred. • Operator’s Mindset: A versatile, "jack-of-all-trades" skill set with a proven ability to drive change across multiple functional areas. Deep familiarity with core business systems (ERP, CRM) and concepts (BI, automation, integrations, demand generation). • Analytical Acumen: Advanced proficiency in Excel for financial modeling, business case development, and translating complex data into clear insights for executive decision-making. • Commercial & Vendor Expertise: Demonstrable experience leading competitive vendor selections, negotiating complex commercial terms, and managing partner relationships to drive performance. • Executive Presence: Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence senior executives and board members through clear, concise messaging. • Adaptability & Prioritization: Adept at managing multiple workstreams and context-switching between different companies and strategic priorities without sacrificing depth or quality.
