Role Description In this role as an Associate Manager-Communications, you will manage communications across assigned states, focusing on expansion markets in the Pacific Northwest. Responsibilities include: • Creating and distributing press releases, social media content, blogs, and newsletters. • Collaborating with local teams and marketing to enhance the organization’s reputation. • Identifying newsworthy opportunities and developing communication plans. • Providing PR counsel to leadership and managers. • Supporting overall communications programs. While this position offers remote flexibility, our preference is for candidates located in the Northwestern region of the U.S. Responsibilities • Media & Content Management: • Write and edit communications following Associated Press (AP) standards. • Distribute news to trade, local, and national media; manage media lists and reporting using Cision. • Respond to media inquiries and maintain relationships with targeted outlets. • Coordinate media interviews and briefings; prepare spokespeople and act as spokesperson when needed. • Monitor news trends, pitch stories, and manage online media pages with current news and crisis updates. • Basic understanding of CRM platforms for media engagement. • Communication Strategy: • Develop strategies and tactics to meet measurable objectives and protect company reputation. • Advise leadership and teams on timing, messaging, and channels. • Generate ideas, write content, and create positive coverage to enhance Search Engine Optimization (SEO). • Internal Communications: • Contribute to internal news channels; identify and write compelling stories. • Strategically align internal and external communications. • Interview subject matter experts; edit and provide feedback. • Manage intranet content using SharePoint. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience. • 4+ years developing and leading key projects. • 4+ years writing both journalistic style and corporate communication materials. • 2+ years of experience developing press releases which garner media coverage in various sized markets. Requirements • Strong strategic planning and decision-making skills; able to balance organizational and group needs. • Ability to integrate diverse priorities into cohesive strategies. • Expertise in public/media relations, corporate and employee communications, and philanthropy. • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing. • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities. • Proficiency in PR and social tools: Meltwater, HootSuite, major social platforms, WordPress, CRM, SharePoint. • Skilled in negotiation, persuasion, and presentations. • Corporate or agency experience; interest in technology (cable industry experience a plus).
