Take a look what our current employees say about working for Tapani: Tapani Careers Job Purpose Position of Structural Engineer requires thorough knowledge of civil/structural design and engineering techniques. The Structural Engineer devises new approaches to problems, and prepares or modifies drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitors work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices. Under Washington State law, Structural Engineers will need to place a Stamp on plans or any designs configured. Responsibilities • Structural engineering calculations • Structural engineering plans, design, and layout • Work closely with supervisor to discuss goal reaching and problem solving • Structural project specifications • Supporting estimating team in regards to structural engineering portion of project cost estimates • Support project teams with the plans and working with subcontractors to ensure plan details are executed properly and on time while solving any problems • Support estimating with structural engineering portion of project proposals • Completing projects in a timely manner • Perform structural design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience • Layout and details portions of projects • Maintain site presentation and stage plat planning • Research design options and document findings • Set and maintain Tapani expectations with subcontractors • Assume the lead engineer’s role on assigned projects • Team building with subcontractors • May direct and supervise other Designers/Drafters activities • Coordinate work with other disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc • Handle routine contract administration • Commit to Tapani core cultural values • Be able to use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents • Provide daily work direction responsibilities • Partial budgetary preparation / compliance accountability Job Requirements and Qualifications • Minimum of 4 years experience ( education, work, or both) • Must have a have completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam (FE) • Have a Certified Engineers Stamp • Safety-onsite and classroom training • Perform the necessary math required to plan and calculate designs and layouts • Interpersonal skills • Software interface-onsite • Team builder • Some experience with training and supervising • Communication skills both written and verbal • Self starter • Problem solver and decision making • Performs tasks with moderate supervision • Ability to perform job duties which may include but not limited to lifting and carrying 30 pounds, standing and walking for long periods of time. Listening, hearing, talking and sitting.
