Ensure safety and security of hospital environment by enforcing policies, responding to emergencies, managing security technology, and maintaining professional interactions.
Requires at least 6 months healthcare security experience, Florida Security “D” license, TASER certification, de-escalation and CPR/AED certifications, and ability to perform various security duties in a hospital setting.
The Security Officer 2 is responsible for ensuring a safe and secure environment for patients, staff, visitors, and property. This role involves enforcing hospital policies, responding to emergencies, managing security-related technology, and maintaining professional and courteous interactions with all individuals on campus. Security Officers are also responsible for patient safety, risk mitigation, and effective communication during incidents, while demonstrating leadership and teamwork to uphold the highest standards of safety and service. Essential Functions · Demonstrate knowledge of Security Department and Hospital policies for enforcement. · Apply restraints in accordance with security policies and procedures. · Use proper etiquette and tone when communicating via radio or telephone. · Work effectively and efficiently at any assigned post. · Operate and troubleshoot common security software and equipment. · Log and store patient valuables properly. · Respond promptly to hospital codes and other emergency situations. · Perform dispatcher duties using associated equipment and software. · Conduct safe and orderly traffic control as needed. · Provide vehicle assistance (jump starts and flat tire refills) when requested. · Investigate patient safety incidents and maintain accurate records. · Understand and follow procedures for Emergency Management and Mass Decontamination. · Maintain proper TASER care, use, and reporting protocols. · Monitor and report workplace safety concerns. · Provide professional and courteous assistance to visitors, patients, and staff. · Address inquiries and offer guidance with respect and professionalism. · Communicate calmly and clearly to de-escalate potentially confrontational situations. · Complete incident reports with clear timelines, order of events, and pertinent details. · Maintain detailed and timely logs for security-related activities. · Demonstrate cooperative behavior with other officers and staff. · Adapt to schedule and post changes as assigned. · Represent the department and the hospital professionally through conduct, appearance, and communication. · Maintain certifications, including Florida Security “D” License, TASER Certification, De- Escalation and Self-Defense, Stop the Bleed, and CPR/AED training. · Attend mandatory in-services, meetings, and continuing education programs. · In circumstances related to patient safety, may provide observation of patients with responsibility to alert the nurse when intervention is needed and maintains confidentiality of patients per hospital policy. · Provide observation of patients with responsibility to alert the nurse when intervention is needed and maintains confidentiality of patients per hospital policy. Education High School Diploma or GED License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State Security Officer And FL Driver's License Certification Taser (CEW) And De-escalation (MOAB, CPI, etc) And Basic Life Saving (BLS, CPR/AED) from American Red Cross or American Heart Association And Basic International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) And Stop the Bleed Work Experience and Additional Information Minimum of six (6) months of healthcare security experience required. Current Florida Security “D” license.
