The Software Developer/DBA has deep Informix experience to support and evolve the SMILE application platform. This role blends hands-on application development with database administration responsibilities and serves as a technical backup to the Lead Informix DBA and Red Hat Linux system administrator. • Develop and maintain SMILE application components using ESQL-C, Informix ACE/Perform, Four JS Genero • Write and maintain Bash and POSIX shell scripts on Red Hat Linux and HP-UX • Support character-based and web-based applications • Act as backup to Lead Informix DBA and Red Hat Linux system administrator • Assist with Informix performance tuning, backups, recovery, and administration • Support migrations and modernization initiatives • Maintain source code using Subversion or similar SCM tools • Collaboration with Enterprise infrastructure teams • 7+ years professional experience in application development and/or database engineering • Strong Informix SQL and schema design skills • Proficiency with ESQL-C, shell scripting (Bash/Korn) • Experience working in Red Hat Linux and HPUX environments • Familiarity with source control systems (SVN preferred) • Experience with Informix ACE, Perform, Genero or Informix 4GL • Experience performing systems administration functions in Linux/Unix environments • Informix high availability and disaster recovery experience • Experience with Azure, .NET, and SQL Server or similar technologies • Experience modernizing legacy applications • Experience in designing and developing web applications, API and services • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical field Advanced proficiency with Informix databases and SQL; strong experience with ESQL‑C and Informix 4GL tools (ACE, Perform, Genero); advanced shell scripting in Linux/Unix environments (Red Hat, HP‑UX); experience with source control systems (SVN); familiarity with cloud, web, and modernization technologies including Azure, .NET, SQL Server, and APIs. Fluent in English
