Role Overview: As a JAVA API Software Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining robust Java-based APIs that support our clients' business applications. This contractor position offers the flexibility to work from one of several key tech hubs, with a strong preference for Pittsburgh, PA. What You'll Do: - You will design, develop, and implement Java APIs to support scalable and secure applications. - You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions. - You will troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues. - You will participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to best practices. - You will contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and tools. - You will document API specifications and maintain technical documentation. - You will stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to enhance API functionality. What You Bring: - You have 3+ years of experience in Java development, specifically with API design and implementation. - You possess strong knowledge of RESTful API principles and web services. - You are proficient with Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate. - You have experience with version control systems like Git. - You demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - You have excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Bonus Points If You Have: - Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. - Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes. - Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and automation tools. - Previous experience working in a contractor or consulting role.
