What We’re Looking For As a software engineer on our Platform team, you’ll own and build core pieces of Synctera’s infrastructure and platform, including foundational backend services, customer and internal-facing infrastructure, and tooling that improves our developer experience. While the platform is your primary focus, you’ll also partner closely with product teams, at times embedding with them to support and build features that require deeper systems or infrastructure expertise. This is a high-autonomy role suited for someone curious, adaptable, and motivated to learn. You’ll work across a broad set of product and engineering initiatives, act as a go-to escalation point for infrastructure-related questions, and help drive solutions that span teams and systems. What You’ll Do Design, enhance, and maintain Synctera’s Google Cloud and CI/CD infrastructure Develop and maintain backend services and utilities in Go Build and evolve platform tooling that improves reliability and the internal developer experience Participate in an on-call rotation to ensure platform stability and reliability Identify and implement cleaner, more efficient solutions to technical problems Help define and drive Synctera’s infrastructure and developer experience roadmap Work across engineering teams to support shared platform needs and act as an escalation point for infrastructure-related questions Collaborate with product teams to understand financial services challenges and design scalable solutions Advocate for modern infrastructure and development best practices, fostering knowledge-sharing across the team What You’ll Bring 4-6+ years of professional work experience as a software engineer Experience with Go or a comparable structured and opinionated language Experience with PostgreSQL or other relational databases Experience with at least one major cloud provider, preferably Google Cloud Experience in using and creating RESTful APIs, which will be consumed by our frontend engineers and our customers Hunger to learn and the ability to guide your own learning Nice to have: Experience with data engineering and data pipelines (Postgres, BigQuery, dbt, Airflow) Familiarity with security compliance frameworks (PCI, SOC 2, SOC 1) Experience being a part of early-stage, fast-moving engineering teams Our Stack Our platform is built in Go (for backend services) and React with Typescript (for the Synctera Console, our frontend). We’re built on top of Google Cloud Platform and typically use Postgres (Cloud SQL, AlloyDB), Redis (Cloud Memorystore), and Pub/Sub as our core application stack, with OpenAPI specifications being used to both document our API and be the foundation for inter-service communication. Our infrastructure is predominantly a mixture of Kubernetes (Google Kubernetes Engine) and Cloud Run (Google’s serverless compute platform), with Terraform orchestrating infrastructure, and tools like Argo facilitating deployments. The range informed in this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US and Canadian locations.
