Role Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Compliance Model Governance and Supplier Management to take charge of Synchrony's BSA/AML transaction monitoring and watchlist screening models. Your leadership will be crucial in enhancing our capabilities to combat financial crime and ensure compliance with regulations. You will oversee the entire model governance lifecycle, which includes development, vendor management, validation, and regulatory responses. Occasionally, on-site attendance may be required for meetings, training, or team events. Essential Responsibilities: • Lead the comprehensive governance of AML transaction monitoring and watchlist screening models throughout their lifecycle. • Manage collaborations with vendors and cross-functional teams on various model projects. • Facilitate data collection, cleansing, and model assessment, ensuring adherence to regulatory documentation practices. • Oversee the model monitoring process and address any significant performance shifts. • Act as the senior point of contact for model-related risks and regulatory issues. Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement: • Mentor AML model analysts and encourage collaboration across functions. • Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders in Legal, Data Management, Operations, and external vendors. • Deliver regular updates on model performance and risks to senior leadership and regulatory committees. Model Performance & Improvement: • Drive initiatives for ongoing model monitoring and improvement, identifying emerging risks and performance issues. • Lead enhancement efforts for existing models using advanced analytics and innovative techniques. Vendor Management: • Oversee the management of third-party model providers, ensuring rigorous onboarding and performance assessments. • Conduct vendor risk assessments to ensure model reliability and compliance. • Collaborate on service agreements and model performance expectations with vendors. Regulatory Readiness: • Maintain diligent documentation of all model governance activities to ensure readiness for audits. • Engage proactively with regulators and auditors to affirm compliance with AML standards. • Lead timely responses to regulatory inquiries and internal findings related to compliance modeling. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree is required; advanced degree preferred such as an MBA or MS in related fields, along with 11+ years of relevant experience. • At least 8 years in AML/BSA compliance and model risk management roles. • A minimum of 2 years management experience with a strong programming background in Python, SAS, SQL, AWS. • Ability to travel for business as necessary. Desired Characteristics: • Strong expertise in transaction monitoring and watchlist screening models. • Excellent leadership and capability to manage teams in a dynamic environment. • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks and interaction with regulators. • Strong analytical skills with the ability to communicate complex risks effectively. • Experience in managing third-party vendors and contract negotiation. • Proficiency in GRC platforms and model risk management software is a plus. Compensation: The salary range for this role is 155,000.00 - 260,000.00 USD annually, with potential bonuses based on performance. Legal and Eligibility Requirements: • You must be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent. • Willingness to undergo a drug test, background investigation, and fingerprinting is required. • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is mandatory; Visa sponsorship is not available.
