We are currently seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Packaging Operator to join our second shift team. This role plays a key part in keeping the packaging line operating efficiently. You’ll be responsible for monitoring equipment, identifying issues early, troubleshooting, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operation. In 2024, we invested in state-of-the-art packaging and material handling equipment to meet the growing demand for our crafted beverages. This is a great opportunity for candidates with a background in packaging, manufacturing, logistics, or beverage production, especially those who thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment who bring accuracy, consistency, and a commitment to quality. You'll work alongside a collaborative team and play a critical role in supporting our packaging operations. LOCATION: This position will be located in Brooklyn Center at our original brewery SHIFTS: The hours for the second shift position are 2pm - 10pm SALARY: Pay range is $21-24/hr. plus our full benefit package (Health, Dental, Vision, Life, 401k, PTO etc.). $3.00 /hr. Shift Differential when applicable (hours worked after 8pm). Essential Functions: • Operate can, keg, and (if assigned) bottling lines, including all related packaging equipment • Follow production schedules and BOMs to ensure correct materials and formats • Perform machine sanitation (CIP) and bright tank cleaning (if applicable) • Execute format and size changes with support as needed • Program and verify accurate product coding • Perform routine quality checks and maintain detailed records • Support and help train less experienced team members • Collaborate with teammates to meet shift production goals • Troubleshoot basic equipment issues and escalate when necessary • Participate in continuous learning and skill development • Assist with manual tasks, including pallet stacking when needed Knowledge Skills & Abilities: • High School Diploma or GED • Proven experience operating packaging lines and related equipment • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills • Detail-oriented with excellent sanitation and documentation practices • Professional, dependable, and honest • Flexible schedule based on production needs • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks throughout the shift • Team-oriented attitude with good communication skills • Strong communication skills both written and verbal Why Surly? • Consistent second-shift schedule — no weekends and minimal overtime • A focus on sustainable staffing — we value work-life balance over burnout • Work with modern equipment in a clean, organized environment • Be part of a company that’s growing, with opportunities for advancement • Great beer.
