Summary This is a full-time position with the Marshal's Office at the Supreme Court of the United States in Washington, D.C. Duties Help The Building Support Technician/Forklift Operator (Night) performs a variety of maintenance, manual labor, and support functions necessary for the regular operations of the Court. Responsible for using a forklift or other equipment to load, unload, move, stack and stage materials. Cleaning responsibilities include washing, stripping, waxing and polishing marble, wood parquet, tile and cement floors; cleaning and vacuuming carpeted floors; cleaning marble, wood and painted walls and ceilings; cleaning windows, courtyard furniture and wall treatments. Collects and disposes of trash, recyclables and burn bags. Cleans and restocks restrooms. Performs other duties as assigned. Hours are 4:30 p.m. until 1:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. See: www.sss.gov Qualifications Prior building support experience is required. Forklift certification is required to maintain employment. Must be able to work on ladders at varying heights; in-depth knowledge of building support services and materials including the safe handling and use of industrial cleaners and solvents; ability to work with heavy cleaning equipment, e.g. hand buffers, scrubbers, waxers and polishers, floor strippers, and rug cleaners; ability to follow oral and written instructions with minimal supervision. Education A high school diploma is required.
