Resource Room / Special Education Teacher (2 Onsite Openings) Location: Waterford, MI (Additional openings in Grand Blanc, Lansing & Detroit areas) Employment Type: Contract, School Year (Approx. 01/26/2026 06/12/2026) Schedule: Full-time, 35 hours per week A K-12 school district is seeking dedicated Special Education Teachers to support students in mostly self-contained classrooms with caseloads of up to 22 students. Candidates will work onsite in an urban district environment and should be comfortable with this setting. Responsibilities: • Deliver individualized instruction and support in resource room and self-contained settings • Manage caseload primarily consisting of Early Learning (pre-K) through K-12 students • Develop and implement educational plans in accordance with Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education (MARSE) and related IDEA Federal Regulations • Collaborate with families and school staff to address the unique needs of students • Utilize knowledge and experience related to challenges faced by urban children and available support resources Qualifications: • Michigan Teacher Certificate with Learning Disabilities (LD) endorsement preferred; Emotional Impairment (EI) and Cognitively Impaired (CI) endorsements are highly desirable • Early Childhood (ZA) endorsement combined with another Special Education endorsement is also acceptable • Experience working with diverse K-12 special education populations, ideally in urban school settings • Familiarity with MARSE guidelines and IDEA federal regulations • Strong communication skills and ability to engage students, families, and colleagues effectively Benefits: • Competitive compensation with weekly pay • Comprehensive insurance options including medical, dental, vision, and life insurance • Matching 401(k) retirement plan • Flexible spending accounts for healthcare and dependent care expenses Qualified candidates with full-time availability are encouraged to apply for these rewarding positions supporting special education students.
