The Rolling Stock Interiors Engineering Specialist will assist with design reviews and problem-solving on interior rail systems, prepare technical specifications for railcar procurements, and support various mechanical systems. The role also involves domestic and international travel for design reviews and inspections.
Candidates must have an ABET accredited four-year degree in mechanical engineering or a related field and demonstrate flexibility in undertaking a variety of tasks. Experience in interior integration and finite element analysis is required, along with the ability to communicate effectively.
STV is seeking a Rolling Stock Interiors Engineering Specialist to join the Vehicles Engineering group. Responsibilities: Assist with design reviews or problem solving on interior rail systems Prepare interior technical specifications for railcar procurements Travel domestically and internationally to conduct design reviews, first article inspections, support failure analysis, and address warranty issues Support other mechanical systems such as food service, galley, bathroom (water systems and retention tanks), glazing, and lighting Preparing technical studies complimented with the use of AutoCAD and 3d models Spreadsheet and database (MS Excel and Access) development and test data analysis Preparation of project and design review meeting reports; possibly at client locations Qualifications: Candidates must hold ABET accredited four-year Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field. Willing to undertake a very wide variety of tasks and activities, demonstrate flexibility and a desire for a wide range of engineering experiences Experience in interior integration with Lighting, door, HVAC, Cab, and seat sub-systems Experience in finite element analysis (FEA) with the capability to model and analyze limited structures Fundamental experience with rail vehicle electrical systems Travel requirements can be up to 25% time for intermittent short periods.
