Manage architectural department resources, conduct interviews, oversee training and performance appraisals, and approve project estimates.
Requires a 4-year Architecture degree with RA license, strong communication and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and project/accounting software.
Architectural Department Manager Location: Cincinnati, OH (On-site or Remote) Benefits: Access to Benefits Package Summary: Reporting to the Director of Engineering (DOE), the Department Manager (DM) represents the company in such a way that embodies the company's values and beliefs. The DM collaborates with the Best Practices to determine the best resource assignments for projects based on availability of the resource(s) and the best overall direction for the company and the team member's career objectives. Responsibilities • Evaluate the need for a direct hire vs contracted resource • Evaluate resumes as they are received for potential department fit. • Interview with potential new resources. • Work with discipline specific Best Practices to assist with on-the-job training and communicating discipline specific standards. • Know and understand the team member’s goals, objectives and career interests. • Perform One-on-Ones monthly and provide team member regular feedback regarding performance. • Conduct formal team member Performance Appraisal annually. • Identify team members with poor performance and inform / seek guidance from Human Resources if necessary. • Assign a Discipline Lead (DL) to begin the SDA document and project fee estimate process. • Review and approve all engineering and design SDA’s and project fee estimates for the department. • Assist the Sales / Marketing Department in preparation of marketing documents like resumes and prior experience. Experience • Good interpersonal communication (verbal and written) skills. • Strong organizational, prioritization and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a fast-paced environment. • Ability to deal with complex situations with confidentiality. • Ability to handle confidential data. • Commitment to excellence and high standards. • Accountable / Responsible work ethic. • Required – minimum four (4) year degree in Architecture with RA License; Preferred – NCARB • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint. • Fundamental experience with Microsoft Project. • Preferred – Deltek Accounting System experience.
