Full Description

As a Staff Mechanical Design Engineer on our Stryker’s Orthopaedic Instruments new product development team, you will be charged with applying sound engineering practices while designing new products and technologies used in surgery. Staying close to our customers and collecting valuable insights into product performance and features will be critical to success. You will have an active role in everything from brainstorming new concepts to commercialization and manufacturing scale-up. This is a hybrid role, with on-site work required on average 4 days a week. What You Will Do: • Design, develop, and verify components and subsystems for medical devices with minimal supervision. • Translate user needs into design specifications and deliver system-level solutions. • Lead prototyping and testing efforts to validate design performance. • Identify and resolve complex design issues using data-driven analysis, resulting in improved processes and outcomes. • Apply clinical knowledge to author design inputs and support Voice of Customer sessions. • Ensure compliance with industry standards and mentor others in design control practices. • Create and maintain engineering documentation, including Design History Files. • Collaborate cross-functionally to drive projects from concept through launch. What You Need Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline • Minimum of 4 years of relevant engineering experience Preferred Qualifications: • Experience in developing and optimizing complex designs for mechanical/ electro-mechanical assemblies incorporating DFM principles • Experience in Customer Centered Design • Experience with 3D CAD modeling (Creo Preferred) • Experience in creating engineering drawings, models, applying GD&T and CAE tools to optimize the design • Ability to communicate moderate complexity plans and technical information to team member
