Position Type: Full-Time Location: Onsite: Fenton, MO Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Position Overview: The Compounding Mechanical Specialist will handle general maintenance tasks to support daily compounding lab operations on a preventative maintenance or as needed schedule. The primary responsibility of this position is to support the efficient, consistent operation of the prescription compounding process by keeping the lab environment and machinery clean, organized, and stocked, with a focus on solving mechanical issues while also overseeing proper, efficient use of all mechanics. The Compounding Mechanical Specialist works closely with the Facility Manager, Compounding Pharmacists and Technicians, Quality Team, and Compounding Management Team. The Compounding Mechanical Specialist reports directly to the Facility Manager. Key Responsibilities: • Equipment Oversight & Maintenance• Preventative Maintenance: Maintains a schedule of preventive maintenance tasks and documents their completion. • Repairs: Responsible for maintaining properly functioning equipment; able to perform basic repairs on equipment as needed. • On-Floor Support: Operates on a day-to-day basis in the compounding room to be readily available for immediate mechanical needs. • Certification & Calibration: Ensures the up-to-date certification of equipment such as laboratory hoods, scales, and balances through regular calibration and 3rd-party oversight in accordance with SOPs. • Equipment Oversight: Assists with oversight of compounding equipment including, but not limited to, biological safety cabinets. • Compliance & Documentation• Regulatory Adherence: Complies with all applicable federal and state regulations, including but not limited to USP 800, USP 795, USP 797, and Missouri Board of Pharmacy requirements. • SOP Compliance: Performs duties in compliance with Strive Pharmacy standard operating procedures and best practices. • Record Keeping: Assists with ensuring compounding equipment documents are maintained and provided to appropriate personnel for physical and digital filing. • Reporting: Provides a weekly update on all equipment status to the Facility Manager and Compounding Management Team. • Operational Logistics & Coordination• Vendor Relations: Creates and builds vendor relationships for internal and external servicing needs. • Supply Chain: Maintains an appropriate supply of ad hoc parts, tools, and supplies. • Workflow Coordination: Partners with the Compounding Management Team to coordinate maintenance events to foster minimal disruption in workflow. • Communication: Assists with performing, scheduling, and communicating preventative maintenance needs to leadership. • Team Culture & Professional Development• Training: Displays a willingness to be trained, as well as to train multiple team members with patience and consistency. • Culture: Promotes a positive workplace culture and team-first attitude. • General Support: Performs other duties, responsibilities, and activities as needed to support the compounding department and Strive as a company. • Physical Requirements & Work Conditions• Activity Level: Must be able to work in an industrial environment, standing and walking around as much as 90% of the day. • Physical Labor: Must be able to handle physical work as needed; may need to lift as much as 65 lbs. • Safety & PPE: Must wear Personal Protective Equipment, including a respirator. • Environmental Exposure: Ability to work safely in an environment with limited exposure to potentially hazardous substances (NIOSH listed) and pharmaceutical ingredients. • Schedule: Work 40 hours M-F with flexibility to work weekends and early/late hours as necessary. • Travel: Travel requirements: Qualifications: • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills • Missouri Pharmacy Technician license in good/active standing or willingness to obtain one. Strive compensates all fees associated with this license. • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment • Ability to communicate with external vendors to properly troubleshoot equipment issues Bonus Qualifications: • Working experience in a manufacturing lab or a pharmaceutical manufacturer • Working knowledge of AccuTek SVF series and other filling equipment • Working knowledge of maintaining, assembling/disassembling, cleaning and overall maintenance of the equipment • Working knowledge of laser ink jet printer and conveyor systems • Working knowledge of lab grade scales and balances • Working knowledge of tableting presses and encapsulation machines • Working experience in pharmaceutical bottling processes • Working experience in auto vial filling machines
