Stratus (YC F25) is building the intelligence layer for how airports run, starting with real-time systems that understand what’s happening on the airfield as it happens. We’re looking for an embedded software engineering intern to help develop and optimize the firmware powering our field units: compact, high-reliability devices deployed in live aviation environments. What you’ll do: Build and optimize low-level software for distributed edge systems. Design pipelines for continuous data capture and high-throughput streaming. Work closely with backend and ML teams to bring on-device intelligence to life. Contribute to testing, deployments, and debugging of live field systems. What we’re looking for: Strong C/C++ or Rust skills (Python/Go a plus). Familiarity with Linux systems, networking, and hardware interfaces. Comfort with embedded boards or single-board computers. Bonus: experience with real-time processing, DSP, or edge AI. Curiosity for aviation, autonomy, and systems that have to just work.
