No C2C eligibility for this position. ” Title: Project Manager – Advanced Distribution Infrastructure (Smart Grid / Utility Modernization, PMP, NERC) Location: Tampa, FL Contract Length: 12+ Months On Site Work-7:30am-4pm EST Pay: 70-75 an hr on W2 Position Overview The Project Manager will oversee the planning and execution of Advanced Distribution Infrastructure (ADI) and Smart Grid modernization projects that enhance reliability, resiliency, and efficiency of the electric distribution system. Projects include deployment of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Distribution Automation (DA), Fault Location Isolation & Service Restoration (FLISR), Outage and Advanced Distribution Management Systems (OMS/ADMS), Distributed Energy Resource (DER) integration, and Substation Automation upgrades. This role spans the full project lifecycle—from business case development and engineering design through procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and regulatory reporting. Primary Responsibilities • Direct the execution of capital projects in ADI and Smart Grid domains, ensuring scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality objectives are achieved. • Develop and maintain project business cases and project authorization documentation (PSA, CIR, PCR). • Oversee procurement strategies, EPC contract administration, and vendor negotiations. • Lead multidisciplinary project teams, including engineering, IT, construction, procurement, project controls, and external consultants. • Ensure all projects comply with NERC, regulatory, and safety requirements. • Provide executive-level reporting on project status, budget performance, risks, and mitigation plans. • Engage with internal stakeholders, regulators, and community partners to ensure alignment with utility modernization goals. • Identify opportunities for process improvements and support continuous enhancement of project management practices. Position Requirements Required Education • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction, Business, or a related field (required) • MBA or graduate degree in Engineering Management (preferred) Required Certifications • PMP Certification – required • NERC knowledge and compliance experience – required • Professional Engineering License (preferred) Required Work Experience • 6–10+ years of project management experience in utility infrastructure, smart grid, or electrical distribution systems • Proven expertise in: • Smart grid technologies (AMI, DA, FLISR, OMS/DMS/ADMS, DER integration, substation automation) • Capital project execution within electric delivery systems • Contract administration and EPC oversight • CPM scheduling and project controls • Budgeting, cost management, and contractor claims negotiation • Supervisory experience (minimum 3 years; 5–7 years preferred for senior levels) Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Strong understanding of electric distribution infrastructure, grid modernization programs, and advanced distribution management systems • Ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams and external contractors/vendors • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills with executives, regulators, and community stakeholders • Experience ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and NERC reliability standards • Demonstrated ability to manage multimillion-dollar, high-visibility projects Working Conditions • Onsite presence required a minimum of 4 days per week (may be 5 based on project needs) • Standard hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm; overtime may be required during critical project or storm restoration events • Travel required between operating sites; occasional air travel and valid passport eligibility required Job Type: Contract Pay: $70.00 - $75.00 per hour Ability to Commute: • Tampa, FL 33610 (Required) Ability to Relocate: • Tampa, FL 33610: Relocate before starting work (Required) Work Location: In person
