The Payment Specialist will ensure accurate and timely posting of insurance and third-party payments while collaborating with the AR and Billing teams. They will also analyze EOBs and resolve payment discrepancies to support revenue cycle workflows.
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of medical experience and at least 1 year specifically in payment posting. A college degree is preferred, but not required, and familiarity with reimbursement patterns in therapy settings is beneficial.
About This Role We’re looking to add a Payment Specialist to our mighty, high-performing team. You’ll be hands-on in ensuring payments are posted accurately, accounts are reconciled efficiently, and financial workflows operate smoothly. This role isn’t siloed. You’ll have a direct connection to the business, tight feedback loops with stakeholders, and a high degree of ownership. Here’s what this looks like: Posting insurance and third-party payments, contractual write-offs, and transfers by either electronic means or manually Researching unidentified payments and/or recoupments to determine appropriate resolution Working with the team to achieve daily, weekly, and monthly goals Posting denials timely with the appropriate reason code Transferring balances accurately and timely so that billing and statements are produced without error Reviewing payor trends to determine root cause issues Maintaining a high level of productivity in a fast-paced environment Essential Responsibilities Ensure accurate and timely posting of all insurance and third-party payments Analyze explanation of benefits (EOBs) to correctly allocate payments and adjustments Research and resolve payment discrepancies Support revenue cycle workflows by collaborating with AR and Billing teams Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payer policies and adjustments processes Achieve and maintain departmental productivity and quality goals Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in the payment posting process You’ll receive full training on all internal systems and play an important part in helping StrataPT scale its operations to serve more customers nationwide. Skills & Qualifications Education: A college degree is preferred, but not required. We’re looking for sharp, capable people who can think critically and learn quickly. Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of medical experience Minimum of 1 year experience specifically in payment posting (electronic payment posting preferred) Understanding and interpretation of insurance explanation of benefits (EOBs) Prior experience in a high-volume transactional environment preferred Skills: High degree of accuracy in payment posting and balance reconciliation Ability to manage a high volume of transactions while maintaining quality Proficiency in using billing software and related computer applications Ability to calculate payment amounts and make necessary adjustments accurately Excellent typing skills and strong attention to detail Familiarity with reimbursement patterns and clinical workflows in physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or ABA settings This Role Is Ideal for Someone Who Is: Humble.
