Leading digital transformation projects and managing sales operations across diverse industries.
Extensive experience in sales, project management, and technology-driven process improvements, but lacking specific logistics or operations leadership experience.
Position Overview We are seeking a strategic Director of Operations to lead our operations department in a COO-like capacity. This role goes beyond traditional operations management, requiring a forward-thinking leader who can own departmental challenges, ensure 24/7 availability for emergencies, and drive scaling through technology and process improvements. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate a strong work ethic, and align with our core values of accountability and risk-taking. This is a full-time, in-office position with no hybrid options currently available. Key Responsibilities • Oversee daily operations in logistics and waste management, implementing tech-enabled solutions to optimize efficiency and scalability. • Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance operational processes, drawing from EOS principles to ensure alignment with company goals. • Lead a team of operations staff, fostering accountability and ownership while addressing generational dynamics to improve retention and culture fit. • Manage vendor relationships, freight brokerage, and logistics coordination, leveraging technology to streamline workflows. • Handle crisis management and on-call duties, ensuring rapid response to operational issues at any time. • Collaborate with sales, account management, and leadership teams to support overall business growth and integration. • Utilize personality assessments as supplemental data to evaluate team fit, promoting honest and transparent evaluations. • Contribute to recruitment efforts by providing insights on candidate profiles and participating in interview processes. Qualifications and Requirements • Proven experience in logistics, preferably in tech-forward sectors such as 3PL, freight brokerage, FedEx, UPS, or airline logistics. • Strong background in scaling operations through technology, with a focus on efficiency rather than expanding workforce. • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in high-pressure environments, with a commitment to hard work and departmental ownership. • Familiarity with EOS or similar operating systems is a plus, emphasizing strategic thinking and process ownership. • Excellent communication skills to navigate generational differences and build respect across diverse age groups. • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, or a related field preferred, with at least 5-7 years of progressive operations leadership experience. • Ability to work in a young, dynamic culture while bringing maturity and stability to the team. Compensation and Benefits • Competitive base salary ranging from $80,000 to $125,000 or more, depending on experience and qualifications; we are flexible for exceptional candidates. • Comprehensive benefits package including medical coverage through Blue Cross Blue Shield, dental insurance, and a 401k plan with a 3-7% match based on tenure and role. • Significant growth potential
