Build and maintain release confidence systems, test infrastructure, and observability tools to improve release safety and developer workflows.
5+ years experience building production systems, strong backend coding skills (Python preferred), experience with CI pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and observability tools.
⚡ Senior Platform Engineer, Quality Systems 📍 Remote (US) 💲 Competitive base + equity 🕒 Full-time | 5+ years experience I’m supporting our client, a high-impact fintech infrastructure company, as they hire a Senior Platform Engineer focused on Quality Systems and release confidence. The platform processes 100M+ in weekly transaction volume across payments, fraud detection, and compliance workflows. Reliability isn’t optional. Releases need to be fast, safe, and predictable. This role sits within platform engineering, with a clear mandate: build the systems that make shipping safer and easier for the entire engineering team. The Opportunity You’ll design and build the infrastructure that enables: • Safer, faster releases • High-confidence validation of core payment workflows • Production-like staging environments • Better visibility into release health and regressions This is a high-leverage role where the tooling you build compounds over time as the team scales. What You’ll Do Build Release Confidence Systems • Design automated smoke tests and workflow validations for critical payment flows • Integrate validation into CI pipelines and release gates • Turn regressions into durable automated safeguards Improve Environment Fidelity • Make staging and testing environments behave more like production • Improve data hygiene, environment health checks, and repeatable test scenarios Develop Test Infrastructure • Build frameworks and harnesses for API and event-driven workflow testing • Implement partner simulations, contract checks, and integration validations • Strengthen testing around asynchronous systems (webhooks, retries, delayed workflows) Strengthen CI & Developer Workflows • Improve CI speed and signal • Reduce flaky tests and make failures easier to debug • Build tooling that reduces manual steps and increases engineering velocity Improve Observability & Operational Guardrails • Enhance release dashboards and visibility • Partner on canaries, rollout strategies, rollback patterns, and monitoring • Use logs, metrics, and tracing to proactively improve release safety What They’re Looking For • 5+ years building and operating production systems • Experience building test infrastructure, automation frameworks, CI gates, or developer productivity tooling • Strong systems thinking and pragmatic problem-solving • Experience with distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, and state transitions Technical Stack • Strong coding ability in Python (Python 3) or another backend language • Experience building integration and workflow tests beyond basic unit tests • CI pipeline optimisation and test reliability improvements • Cloud infrastructure experience (GCP preferred or similar platforms) • Familiarity with observability tools (logs, metrics, tracing, alerting) Preferred Experience • Payments, money movement, reconciliation, risk, or compliance systems • Systems dependent on external APIs and webhooks • Release engineering practices including gates, canaries, and rollback playbooks • Improving staging fidelity and managing complex test environments Why Apply? • Direct impact within a small, high-calibre engineering team • High-leverage platform work that improves reliability and velocity across the company • Ownership of foundational release and quality systems • Remote-first culture within the US • Opportunity to shape engineering standards as the business scales This role suits engineers who enjoy building tooling and infrastructure that makes the entire team stronger.
