The Transportation Operations Specialist is responsible for building and operating an accurate, efficient, and cost-effective transportation network. This role trains and mentors transportation teams across 10+ Fulfillment Centers and planned sortation facilities, ensuring consistent execution and adherence to operating standards. The Specialist engineers, evaluates, and presents cost-benefit analyses for transportation strategies including zone skipping, parcel induction, and sortation models across both Stord-operated and third-party facilities, balancing cost savings with Stord's service-level requirements. This role forecasts and communicates daily transportation volumes, proactively identifying risks to cost and service performance, and uses outcomes and trends to continuously reassess and optimize logistics strategies. As the primary owner of Stord's LTL and Truckload operations, the Transportation Operations Specialist designs, implements, and oversees daily execution of a complex transportation network. This includes daily planning and optimization within the TMS, monitoring compliance with SOPs at the site level, and translating strategy into scalable, actionable execution on the fulfillment center floor. What You'll Do: Parcel • Engineer the operational success of zone skipping for our parcel network, coordinating the daily operations for carrier arrivals, sortation schemes, critical departures, and relations with last mile carriers • Leverage Domo/Big Query to design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that drive business insights and decision-making.Serve as the on-site liaison between Stord Transportation and Warehouse Operations • Provide guidance on the layout and dock plan, provide input for the configuration of the sorter, identifying sorter spurs, staging areas, and doors for the day's carriers. • In consultation with FC Operations, project daily package volumes and coordinate carrier capacity to handle them • Oversee the accuracy and timeliness of loading gaylords and packages aboard carrier trailers, including development of processes to improve accuracy and efficiency • Utilize reporting and tools to identify and address delays, errors, or areas of concern with the sortation and tracking for parcels from the FC • Review results of Parcel carrier selection, and sortation to carriers, addressing anomalies or shipping errors as observed • Utilize online tools to communicate shipping forecasts to Parcel carriers, and meet with local carrier contacts for the timely and accurate pickup and sortation of all Parcel freight • Conduct training, develop operating procedures, and communicate successes and opportunities with the process for carrier selection, labeling, compliance, and accuracy of the transportation operation FTL/ LTL/Drayage Transportation • Lead all sites to perform onsite adjustments to LTL plans, updating shipment characteristics as they are staged and creating or communicating changes to plans to appropriate parties • Lead all sites to manage LTL and FTL pickup appointments in OpenDock and proactively acquire ETAs with customers and carriers to avoid dock congestion • Lead all sites to coordinate the Inbound delivery appointment schedule, aligning with Warehouse Operations to prioritize and expedite incoming deliveries, and synchronize supply to labor availability. • Assist in the operational success of all inbound drayage containers that Stord Freight contracts Basic Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related field • 4+ years of experience in logistics solutions design, with a focus on Parcel transportation engineering across fulfillment and sortation networks • 4+ years of hands-on experience managing Parcel transportation operations in warehouse environments, including carrier compliance, service requirements, and operational constraints • Experience managing 2-3 direct reports, including goal setting, performance feedback, and development • Hands-on experience working with multiple transportation modes, including LTL, FTL, and Ocean/Drayage, with a working understanding of their cost structures, operational constraints, and performance metrics • Demonstrated ability to analyze large, complex datasets using BigQuery and translate findings into clear, actionable insights through Tableau dashboards, reports, and data storytelling
