Test Technician – Generators Location: Milwaukee, WI 53208 Hire Type: Full-time, Direct Hire Pay: $30–$35/hour + overtime eligibility Overview: We are seeking a Test Technician to perform post-assembly inspection, mechanical, and electrical testing on utility-scale generators, including new, repaired, and prototype units. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with high-voltage electrical testing, vibration testing, and functional tests on large mechanical and electrical assemblies. Safety, precision, and adherence to quality standards are critical in this role. Key Responsibilities: • Perform high-voltage, vibration, functional, and other electrical tests on generators ranging from 20k lbs to 130k lbs and 3–5+ MW output. • Follow SOPs, blueprints, and schematics to ensure compliance with specifications and quality standards. • Document and track all testing, inspection results, and time associated with jobs in the company systems. • Collaborate with production and test engineers to schedule activities and support heat run and R&D testing. • Cross-train in multiple areas (Incoming Inspection, Test/Tollgate, Faro) and train new employees once certified. • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and safe work practices following 6S methodology, EHS standards, and company policies. • Operate tools, precision instruments, and equipment, including overhead cranes and forklifts (certification provided if needed). • Identify defects, troubleshoot issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications: • Associates degree in Electronics Engineering Technology or related field, or 4+ years of relevant experience. • Minimum 1 year as a test technician in a manufacturing environment; experience with electrical systems, power converters, or inverters preferred. • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles, inspection/testing techniques, and troubleshooting. • Ability to follow detailed instructions, interpret blueprints, and use measuring and testing equipment. • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and safety awareness, especially when working with high-voltage equipment. • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
