Job Title: Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager Reports To: Project Manager / Program Manager Position Type: Remote (35% travel) About Stell: Stell is a seasoned veteran- and woman-owned small business providing expertise and innovation across the resilience, environmental, restoration, and compliance service sectors. Position Overview: We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer / Project Manager with strong experience supporting federal government projects. This role involves managing multiple mechanical engineering projects from planning through execution, ensuring all work stays within scope, budget, and schedule. You will lead and support Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs), review mechanical system designs and specifications, and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and federal regulations. Key Responsibilities: · Serve as Project Manager for projects, overseeing scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables. · Lead and support Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs), including field inspections, system evaluations, and documentation of deficiencies and recommendations. · Review and validate mechanical engineering drawings, specifications, and calculations for compliance with federal, DoD, and industry standards. · Conduct ASHRAE Level 2 energy audits and feasibility studies. · Conduct site visits to assess HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and other mechanical systems. · Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, structural, electrical engineers, and architects. · Prepare technical reports, assessment findings, and design narratives for client review and approval. · Ensure adherence to applicable codes (e.g., UFC, ASHRAE, IPC, NFPA) and federal contracting requirements. · Support project scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning in collaboration with program managers. · Provide quality assurance and control throughout the project lifecycle. · Interface with government stakeholders to communicate technical findings and project updates. · Contribute to proposal development and technical writing for new opportunities. Qualifications: · U.S. Citizenship · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering · Professional Engineer (PE) license · PMP certification or CAPM (minimum) · Proven experience with federal engineering projects, including mechanical system design and facility assessments · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills · Excellent communication and collaboration abilities · Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, mechanical system modeling tools) · Familiarity with federal design standards and project lifecycle management · Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management platforms · Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance · Willingness to travel up to 35% Physical Requirements: · Must be physically capable of conducting field inspections, which may include walking long distances, climbing ladders, entering mechanical or confined spaces, and lifting equipment or materials as needed. · All activities must be performed in accordance with applicable safety standards, workplace regulations, and federal guidelines.
