Description This role is responsible for generating sales through a combination of active prospecting and selling Steinway products K-12 schools (both public and private) and institutions of higher education within defined territories, where there is no Steinway retail or local dealer representation. Candidate must be based in the Northeastern US for territory travel purposes. The right candidate has a proven track record in a proactive approach to sales, with past experience in business development, lead generating activities, generating sales prospects and achieving sales. Main Responsibilities: Build and cultivate strong long-term relationships with higher education and secondary institutions within the assigned market Attend concerts, galas, and other related events for the purpose of relationship building Where relevant, conduct inventory assessment to support schools in managing their piano inventory Be knowledgeable of and act on potential sales opportunities that are occurring in the assigned market (i.e. building of a new concert hall or music school, granting of new endowment from music program patron, etc.) Assist and advise in fund-raising efforts for institutions requiring this aid Achieve personal sales goals Build relationships and engage with clients on many different levels Manage full selling cycle from set up initial visits to scheduling follow up and ongoing appointments to closing the deal Conduct inventory analysis, and present findings and suggestions to key decision makers Use the CRM system to manage and follow up with leads Requirements Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and experience in business, customer service, sales or the arts Outstanding business development and sales management skills Strong relationship building skills Superior communication, planning, and organizational skills Basic knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel Highly motivated, results-oriented self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and drive new business Piano or music experience /background required Min. 2 years experience within luxury / professional sales in a commission-based environment Note: Extensive travel is required for this role. Ideally lives nearby a major airport.
