Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. Status: Permanent When Available: As soon as possible Duties: According to Civil Service Standards, but particularly provide office support in the department of Admissions/Enrollment by performing a wide range of clerical tasks and other document preparation tasks; answering telephones; completing forms; assisting student applicants; creating or assisting in the preparation of reports, and other related activities. Duties include but not limited to the following as below: Assist with the processing of student applications. Sort applications and application documents.Create student files and maintain application records. Enter data onto the college's computerized student information system.Follow through with the application processing and make appropriate request for information.Assistant prospective applicants via phone, mail, electronic communication and walk-in inquires.Operate office equipment such as printers, scanners, and copiers.Support office's front desk operations when necessary. This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At a future date, it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all of the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in an NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified.Requirements: Minimum Qualifications: Promotion: one year as an Office Assistant 1; or one year of permanent service in a clerical or keyboarding title allocated to Grade 6 or higher.
