Introduction The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) , Division of External Services - Watershed Management is recruiting to fill a Stormwater Engineer position at the Entry, Senior or Advanced level depending upon candidate qualifications. This position will implement the Department's Stormwater Permit program, the Urban Nonpoint Pollution control program, and watershed management activities in the south-central region of the state. This position can be headquartered out of the Fitchburg, Dodgeville, Horicon Marsh or Janesville Service Center, depending on office space availability and the location of the selected candidate. Remote work may be available for a portion of the work week, after the initial onboarding period. The Watershed Management program administers water quality programs associated with management of storm water runoff, agricultural runoff (permitted and unpermitted farms), and other nonpoint sources of pollution. Staff manage Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) permit programs, assist landowners in implementing best management practices and leverage collaborative relationships with counties and other partners, in an effort to improve and protect water quality in fulfillment of our Mission. Position Summary This Stormwater Engineer is responsible for the implementation of the municipal (MS4), construction, and industrial stormwater programs in accordance with Section 1251-1387 of the Clean Water Act, ch. 283, Wis. Stats., and chs. NR 151 and 216, Wisconsin Administrative Code. The position is responsible for technical engineering review and engineering support for the construction, municipal, and industrial stormwater permit program, in field compliance oversight of storm water permitted facilities, as well as engineering review and approval of stormwater projects and assistance with engineering review of grant applications related to the urban planning and construction nonpoint grant program and the state targeted runoff management grant. This position provides critical support for the Department's alternative water quality compliance approaches and TMDL implementation. Salary Information The Entry l evel Engineer starting salary is between $32.12 - $36.57 / hour ($66,809.60 to $76,065.60 annually) depending on qualifications. This is in the classification of Water Resources Engineer and is in pay schedule/range 14-14. Salary for Senior level is $38.00 to $44.85 per hour ($79,040 to $93,288 annually), in pay schedule/range 14-13. Salary for Advanced level is $45.00 to $51.07 per hour ($93,600 to $106,225.60 annually), in pay schedule/range 14-13. In addition, there is $1.00 per hour (or $2,080 annually) added to your base salary for holding a Professional Engineer (PE) license, whether it is held presently or acquired in the future. A PE is not a requirement for this position. This position is not represented by a collective bargaining unit. Pay on appointment will follow the provisions of the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan. Job Details Travel: This position will require travel throughout the assigned geographic area for meetings, trainings, or to provide program implementation support and may require minimal out-of-state travel. Qualifications Please describe the below qualifications in your letter of qualification and resume to be considered for this position: To be minimally qualified applicants must meet at least one of the below requirements: Have graduated or will graduate by time of appointment from a recognized college or university with a bachelor's degree in a related engineering field such as electrical, mechanical, civil or environmental engineering; OR Registration as a Professional Engineer as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.04, Wis. Stats.; OR A specific record, issued by the professional engineering section of the Department of Safety and Professional Services, showing 4 years or more of experience in engineering work of a character satisfactory to the professional engineering section and satisfactory completion of the fundamentals of engineering exam; OR Have equivalent professional training and practical experience so as to be deemed a professional engineer as defined in Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.01, Wis. Stats. and also deemed to be qualified to engage in professional engineering practice as determined by the Department of Safety and Professional Services per s. 443.03, or 443.04, or 443.05, Wis.
