What We're Seeking: DATCP is currently recruiting for an Office Operations Associate to fill a Limited Term Employment opportunity in the Division of Animal Health. This appointment is expected to work approximately 20 hours per week, from mid-October until mid-April 2026. Where We Are Located: This position is located at 2811 Agriculture Drive in Madison, WI. DATCP is in the Prairie Oaks State Office Building situated on Madison's southeast side and a beautifully wooded and scenic hilltop venue . Our employees enjoy low-cost parking at the facility and are only minutes away from the Beltline Highway, Interstate 90 and Highway 51 for quick access to local restaurants, retail and service locations. Remote Work Option: This position may have the ability to work remotely for up to 60% of scheduled workdays per pay period! An approved remote work agreement is required before an employee may work remotely. Approval of the employee's remote work agreement and work schedule will vary based on the operational needs of the Division. All DATCP employees who work remotely are required to live in Wisconsin. Position Summary This position is responsible for providing professional and program support for the Division of Animal Health in the Bureau of Animal Disease Control and the Bureau of Field Services. This position involves reviewing and managing information for permits and tracking activities related to Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI) surveillance of raw milk testing. This position will assist in reviewing and entering permitting and test information into database and to verify requirements are met. 70% - Assist with permitting needs to allow movements of animals or animal products. 20% - Assist Division of Animal Health and support the meet the National Milk Testing Strategy objectives to ensure continuity of service. 10% - Assist Veterinary Program Managers with website and other communications regarding permitting requirements for HPAI in bovine. Salary Information The Office Operation Associate classification is in schedule/ range 02-10. Pay will be $20.63 per hour For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at the time of hire. The Department has numerous on-the-job training (OJT) opportunities, unique to each Bureau. These OJT opportunities include direct experience and practice through collaboration with co-workers/supervisor, peer mentoring, and job-specific training modules. Conditions of Employment: DATCP does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the selected applicant being able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the United States. A criminal background check will be performed on the selected applicant prior to an offer of employment. Applicant must be a resident of Wisconsin (18 years of age or older). Limited term positions are not civil service classified positions, do not have rights to permanent civil service classified positions, and do not lead to permanent status. This position is Limited Term Employment (LTE) and is limited to 1,039 hours in 26 consecutive pay periods (1 year). Qualifications Minimally qualified candidates will have each of the following: Experience providing customer service to internal and external partners in a professional/office setting (e.g., explaining guidelines, responding to inquiries, resolving issues, etc.). Experience with effective time management, including organization and prioritization of multiple work tasks without direct supervision. Experience utilizing computer database software applications to enter and monitor data, track deadlines and draft correspondence (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, CRM, etc.). Experience in accurately processing and maintaining program/business records in an electronic file management system. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, highly qualified candidates will have one or more of the following: Experience with administrative license and/or permit review activities (e.g., review applications for accuracy, fee processing, tracking, etc.) and/or background investigative activities. Experience reporting data to a grantor (e.g., non-profit, state or federal government.). Experience reconciling data from multiple sources.
