Introduction The Department of Revenue is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Coordinator to join the Secretary's Office of Communications team. This position will be headquartered at the State Revenue Building in Madison, WI and can work remotely up to 60% time after an initial training period. Join the Department of Revenue (DOR)! Position Summary This is a senior level position responsible for assisting the Communication's Director in developing and executing an internal communications strategy utilizing both print and digital forms, including, but not limited to newsletters, reports, brochures, video, audio, web pages, press releases, graphic materials, digital monitors and social media. This position will, at the direction of the Communication's Director, work on a strategy to disseminate important information to DOR employees. The position will work with divisions and managers to identify and develop content to meet their outreach and internal communications needs. This position will also be the primary person responsible for keeping the department informed about the developments with the department's strategic planning processes, including the implementation of its mission, vision and values into staff communications. Work will include strategizing on the best methods to disseminate the information to staff in all offices throughout the state and creating the content to disseminate that information. This position will work closely with other communications staff and program experts as part of a communications team and will create and administer complex communication information and plans that include products that educate our internal customers/employees. This position works under general supervision in the Secretary's Office of Communications under the Communications Director. To see the full list of duties view the position description. Salary Information The starting pay rate for this position is between $30.00 - $34.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. The classification of this position is Communications Specialist Senior, which is in Pay Schedule 07, Pay Range 04. Pay will be set in accordance with the State of Wisconsin Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. Starting pay for current state employees may vary based on applicable provisions in the Compensation Plan. Job Details Background Checks: Due to the nature of this position, final candidates will be subject to criminal background, fingerprint, and tax compliance checks. I-9 Requirements: Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship) at the time of appointment. The Department of Revenue does not sponsor work or student visas and is not an eligible OPT employer for those with F1 visas. DOR participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with Form I-9 information for all new employees to confirm authorization to work in the U.S. Probationary Period: A 12-month probationary period may be required. Remote Work/Telework: This position is eligible for remote work/telework up to 60%. After completion of a training period, telework may gradually increase up to 60% based on employee performance and work unit needs. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin and is subject to change based on business needs. Qualifications Minimally qualified applicants will have experience: • Writing and editing communication materials for a large organization (e.g., presentations, flyers, newsletter articles, bulletins, scripts, handbooks, etc.); and • With graphic design techniques and software (e.g. Adobe, InDesign). In addition to the above, well qualified applicants will have experience: • Developing and managing internet or intranet content for an organization with complex programs and services; or • Managing technically complex subject matter for an organization (e.g. tax, policy, industry specific, etc.); or • Tailoring communication for multiple diverse audiences (e.g., general public, legislature, internal organization-wide, etc.) How To Apply To be considered for this position, you must complete the online application.
