Introduction What We're Looking For: The Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently looking for a .75 FTE Human Resources Assistant to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively partner with internal and external stakeholders to provide comprehensive personnel services to the business areas of the department. The Bureau of Human Resources (BHR) provides comprehensive personnel services to the Wisconsin Department of Justice, a large state agency responsible for the provision of criminal justice programs and services to all citizens of the state of Wisconsin. Position Summary The HR Assistant classification serves as a key point of contact for human resources services and is expected to demonstrate exceptional customer service by establishing and maintaining professional relationships. Entry: The .75 FTE Human Resources Assistant provides a wide range of professional HR services to management and staff at the Department of Justice. The individual in this position will provide oversight and completion of administrative programs and activities in support of efficient bureau and department operations. Duties and responsibilities include providing assistance to professional human resources staff. For more information, please review the full position description Advanced: The .75 FTE Human Resources Assistant-Advanced provides a wide range of professional HR services to management and staff at the Department of Justice. This position is responsible for the oversight and completion of administrative programs and activities in support of efficient bureau and department operations. Duties and responsibilities include providing highly specialized support to professional human resources staff. Work at this level involves the development and implementation of internal procedures; the independent and varied application and interpretation of rules, regulations, policies, guidelines, and procedures; substantial technical decision-making; and extensive intra- and inter-departmental and outside contacts with applicants, employees, management, and other operating units for coordinative and informative purposes. For more information, please review the full position description Salary Information The starting pay at the Entry level is $24.00 - $27.50 per hour and the Advanced level is $27.50 - $31.00 per hour plus an excellent benefits package. Pay for current and new state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of hire. The level of position and salary will be determined based on the qualifications of the selected candidate at the time of hire. DOJ offers hybrid remote/office workIf interested in remote work, this can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. The selected employee(s) must report to DOJ's office on the first day of employment. In addition, the employee may need to report to DOJ on short notice as operational needs require. DOJ does not sponsor work visas. Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States. Qualifications Minimally Qualified candidates will have the following : • Experience in a human resources profession or office setting (e.g. performing data entry, processing requests in organizational email inbox, drafting/routing/filing documents, etc). • Experience applying customer service methods and techniques with a variety of stakeholders at different levels within and outside the organization. • Experience working with data and information of serious and sensitive nature while taking measures to maintain confidentiality. • Experience managing multiple priorities while meeting strict deadlines. Highly Qualified candidates will also have experience with two or more of the following : • Experience interpreting and applying human resources rules, regulations and policies. • Experience using database systems in a professional environment, including Windows-based software and Human Resources Information Systems. • Experience collecting and tracking requests and data related to operational processes (e.g., employee performance reviews, recruitment activities, onboarding and offboarding tasks, etc.).
