Description of Work The Logistics Warehouse Manager oversees daily operations of the State Laboratory of Public Health logistics warehouse, ensuring accurate inventory control and safe handling of critical and hazardous materials. This position manages a cloud-based inventory system, coordinates shipping and receiving of scientific, medical, and administrative supplies, and supervises staff to maintain efficient workflow. Responsibilities include planning and managing warehouse logistics, monitoring compliance with safety protocols, and ensuring timely distribution of materials to internal and external stakeholders. The role requires frequent interaction with vendors, courier services, and laboratory units to support statewide laboratory operations. The Logistics Warehouse Manager position maintains a perpetual inventory of all inventories ($750,000 on hand in over 1,300 separate items) carried by the warehouse. Key Duties Include: • Manage a cloud-based inventory system to track and control supplies, equipment, and chemicals for laboratory operations. • Oversee safe handling of hazardous and temperature-sensitive shipments, including chemicals, reagents, gases, and fragile scientific instruments. • Plan and direct warehouse logistics, including distribution, transportation, and services for scientific, medical, and administrative materials. • Supervise fulfillment of routine and special orders for laboratory and Office of Chief Medical Examiner supplies, including vaccines and chemical products. • Coordinate assembly and distribution of kits for hospitals, local health departments, and private providers. • Prepare monthly estimates and purchase requests for replenishing inventory under state and agency contracts. • Maintain formal inventory control systems and ensure accurate completion of stock orders and electronic purchase requests. • Monitor compliance with safety standards and implement precautions to prevent injury and damage during shipping and receiving operations. • Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors, courier services, and internal stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of materials. • Supervise daily warehouse operations and provide guidance to staff to meet performance and quality standards. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred: • Demonstrated expertise managing a cloud-based inventory system to track and control supplies, equipment, and chemicals, ensuring real-time accuracy and compliance with laboratory standards. • Proven experience overseeing safe handling and distribution of hazardous and temperature-sensitive materials, including chemicals, reagents, gases, and fragile scientific instruments, in accordance with safety protocols. • Advanced proficiency in planning and directing warehouse logistics operations, including transportation coordination and fulfillment of routine and special orders for scientific and medical supplies. • Experience managing mailroom and shipping operations, including processing incoming and outgoing shipments through USPS, UPS, FedEx, and NC State Courier Service, while ensuring timely and accurate delivery. • Skilled in supervising daily warehouse operations and providing measurable guidance to staff to meet performance standards for shipping, receiving, and kit assembly for statewide distribution.
