Introduction • **A copy of your resume must also be included with the submission of your State of Maryland recruitment application.*** GRADE 20 LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Cannabis Administration, Office of Information Technology, Linthicum, Maryland Main Purpose of Job This position will serve as a dedicated System Administrator for the Maryland Cannabis Administration (MCA)'s Office of Information Technology (OIT)'s core enterprise applications. This position will be responsible for maintaining the system software that core applications run on, as well as for proactively monitoring system performance, diagnosing issues, and making necessary adjustments to ensure system reliability and optimal response times for all users. This position is critical to ensuring the stability, performance and security of enterprise systems, thus safeguarding the overall health of such systems in order to protect data integrity. This position will also be responsible for the integrity and availability of the data that underpins all of MCA's regulatory, licensing and compliance operations. This directly supports MCA's Technology Modernization strategy, while ensuring cybersecurity compliance and developing systems which are crucial for informed decision-making and efficient governance. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Experience: Two years of experience maintaining and modifying operating systems for multi-purpose, multi-tasking computers. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute thirty (30) credit hours from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field(s), to include course work in machine or assembler computer languages, and operating system and data communication technology for multi-purpose multi-tasking computers, for one year of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute experience operating multi-purpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or scheduling, controlling input and output; or maintaining a tape library to process data on multi-purpose, multi-tasking computer systems; or converting data from project specifications by developing program code using third generation or other generally accepted computer programming languages; or designing, developing and maintaining communications networks, on a year-for-year basis, for a high school education. 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or other information technology-related field to include course work in machine or assembler computer languages, and operating system and data communication technology for multi-purpose, multi-tasking computers, and one year of experience maintaining and modifying operating systems for multipurpose, multi-tasking computers, for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a Commissioned Officer in the Computer Systems Operations classifications or Computer Systems Operations specialty codes in the Information Technology field of work, on a year-for-year basis, for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • **A copy of your resume must also be included with the submission of your State of Maryland recruitment application.*** The desired candidate should have professional experience using programs within the Microsoft 365 platform in an administrative role, including providing end-user support. The desired candidate should also have professional experience using cloud platforms, such as Azure, AWS, and GCP. Additionally, the desired candidate should possess experience and/or familiarity with scripting languages, including Python and PowerShell. Furthermore, the desired candidate should have experience and/or familiarity with development in Content Management systems. Finally, the desired candidate should possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
