GRADE 12 LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Department of Human Services Department of Social Services 200 Kent Avenue, La Plata, Maryland 20646 Main Purpose of Job The position is the full performance level responsible for carrying out the full and complete financial operations of the Child Support Fiscal Services as administered by the Child Support Enforcement Division of DHR in an accurate, timely and professional manner adhering to Federal, State and Local regulations. The position reviews, controls, records and balances financial transactions in accordance with prescribed procedures utilizing four major accounting systems POSITION DUTIES Review, record, and reconcile financial transactions using CSES, E&E, and LTRS. Investigate child support cases, interpret court orders, conduct audits, manage escrow balances, and adjust accounts. Provide high quality customer service to internal and external stakeholders per departmental standards Extracts data from accounting systems and summarizes financial information for reports utilizing personal computer spreadsheets in support of the entire Child Support Enforcement Division to ensure enforcement of timely collections of regular payments. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: One year of experience reconciling agency accounting systems to fiscal control systems or developing automated spreadsheets, ledgers and reports using accounting software packages or identifying budget trends and recommending budget realignments. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute experience calculating and recording financial, statistical or other numerical data may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience in Financial Clerical/Finance Technicians classifications or specialty codes in the financial field of work at a rate of one year of military experience for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate will possess the following: One year of experience in accounts payable One year experience in MS Excel creating spreadsheets SELECTION PROCESS Please make sure that you provide sufficient information on your application to show that you meet the qualifications for this recruitment. If you are in State service and are a promotional candidate, your salary will be determined in accordance with State of Maryland guidelines. BENEFITS Contractual employees who works for an agency covered under the State Employee and Retiree Health and Welfare Benefits Program (the Program), have a current employment contract and work 30 or more hours a week (or on average 130 hours per month) may be eligible for subsidized health benefits coverage for themselves and their dependents. As a contractual employee, you will be responsible for paying 25% of the premiums for your medical and prescription coverage, including any eligible dependents you have enrolled. The State of Maryland will subsidize the remaining 75% of the cost for these benefits. You can also elect to enroll in dental coverage, accidental death and dismemberment insurance, and life insurance, but will be responsible to pay the full premium for these benefits.
