In order to fulfill our mission of promoting safety, we have increased security at our institutions while leading the way in innovative restorative justice projects that will help offenders reintegrate into society upon release. • This recruitment is limited to current DPSCS employees.* GRADE CORR 0008 LOCATION OF POSITION STATEWIDE: Baltimore Central Booking Intake Center 300 East Madison Street Baltimore, Maryland 21202 Dorsey Run Correctional Facility 2000 Toulson Road Jessup, MD 20794 Maryland Correctional Institutional-Hagerstown 18601 Roxbury Road Hagerstown, MD 21746 Maryland Correctional Institution-Jessup 7800-7899 House of Correction Road Jessup, MD 20794 Maryland Correctional Institution for Women 7943 Brock Bridge Road Jessup, Maryland 20794 Pins May Be Vacated During the Year for Additional Locations POSITION DUTIES A Correctional Case Management Supervisor is the supervisory level of work in assessing and evaluating the personal and criminal history of adult inmates to recommend a security level and in developing and monitoring appropriate work and educational programs. Employees in this classification supervise lower-level Correctional Case Management Specialists. Provides direct supervision of the Case Management Specialists by providing information and guidance, performance expectations and evaluations and recommending disciplinary action. Reviews pertinent written documents, including case management actions, to ensure accuracy and completeness and to evaluate and make recommendations to managerial staff, in accordance with policy and procedure. Responds to inquiries from inmates, family members, outside agencies, attorneys and others regarding inmates' incarceration and about agency policies and procedures, in person, by telephone and in writing. Coordinates, monitors and participates in training of case management unit staff to ensure continuity of services and to ensure compliance with agency policy and procedure. Disseminates and interprets relevant information pertaining to agency policy and procedure to other institutional departments via staff meetings, and written correspondence to ensure knowledge and compliance. Assumes duties and responsibilities of a Case Management Manager in the absence of the Case Management Manager or in facilities without a manager, to assure continuity of services within the facility. Performs all other related duties, as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Experience: Four years of experience assessing inmates' security risk and inmates' program needs for the purpose of determining correct security classifications and developing program plans. Notes: 1. The above educational requirement is set by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission in accordance with Title 12, Subtitle 10 of the Code of Maryland Regulations. 2. Candidates may substitute one year of experience as a Correctional Officer for one year of the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute one year of experience as a Correctional Dietary Officer, Correctional Maintenance Officer or Correctional Supply Officer for one year of the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in correctional classifications or correctional specialty codes in the criminal justice field of work at the rate of two years of military experience for one year of the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with direct supervision of staff, by providing information and guidance, performance expectations, evaluations and/or recommendations of disciplinary action. Experience reviewing written documents for accuracy/completeness and/or make recommendations to managerial staff, in accordance with policy or procedures. Experience responding to incarcerated individuals, their family members, attorneys or outside agencies regarding incarceration policies and procedures. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS 1. Employees who have not already done so must meet the required selection standards and successfully complete the training prescribed by the Maryland Correctional Training Commission for a Correctional Classification Counselor. Selection standards for correctional training are listed in detail in the Code of Maryland Regulations 12.10.01.04 and include the following: U.S. Citizenship or Resident Alien status Must be at least 21 years of age A completed background investigation Oral interview Physical examination. 2. Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulations 17.04.09, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
