Introduction The Maryland Department of Aging helps establish Maryland as an attractive location for all older adults through vibrant communities and supportive services that offer the opportunity to live healthy and meaningful lives. Through action, investment, leadership, and reform, the Department will create a society in which all older Marylanders can lead lives that are healthy, financially secure, socially connected, and purposeful throughout their full lifespan. GRADE 18 LOCATION OF POSITION Maryland Department of Aging 36 S. Charles Street Baltimore, MD 21201 POSITION DUTIES The Planning Manager position supports the Maryland Department of Aging’s development and implementation of the Longevity Ready Maryland (LRM) multisector plan on aging through policy analysis, stakeholder engagement and management, data analysis and reporting, and other functions. The LRM is Maryland’s 10-year multisector plan on aging and MDOA’s State Plan on Aging under the Older Americans Act. The plan guides policy, programming, and resource allocation to support older adults and healthy aging across the lifespan. The Planning Manager will work collaboratively with team members across the Department, as well as external partners, to ensure continued progress towards the implementation, evaluation, and update of LRM. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience. 3. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience. 4. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience. DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Preference will be given to candidates who have the following: Two or more years of experience performing community organizing activities, focused on convening diverse populations to build collective influence and advocate for systemic change. Two or more years of experience conducting research, data collection, analysis, preferably in reporting on aging services programs, policies, and systems. Working knowledge of the Older Americans Act. LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.
