About the Position: This position serves as a technical expert responsible for leading complex program activities, interpreting and applying retirement statutes and policies, and overseeing specialized projects. Key duties include evaluating system performance, developing training and technical materials, handling complex benefit re-computations, and providing expert guidance to agencies, institutions, and retirement system members on advanced retirement matters. Minimum Qualifications Six years of experience in employee benefits; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in employee benefits; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in employee benefits; OR A Certified Retirement Counselor (CRC) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation plus two years of experience in employee benefits. EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTIONS: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field. Job Duties and Other Information Job Duties: • This position serves as a trainer and expert in developing and implementing a training program for the staff of the Retirement Department as well as an expert in content with the capability to assist all areas within the Retirement Department. It also updates and review written procedures and solve technical issues and problems that arise pertaining to daily retirement processing. Position-Specific Details: Appointment Type: This vacancy may be filled as a Probational, Promotion, or Detail to Special Duty. Detail to Special Duty may be required for a trial period prior to promotion consideration. Current classified permanent status employees may be required to accept a Probational Appointment.
