McCoy • Internal Contact Email: bmccoy@savannahtech.edu Administrative Assistant I – Police Academy Savannah Technical College is seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant to support the Police Academy within the Public Services Division. This position is responsible for performing a wide range of advanced administrative and clerical duties that require strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of institutional policies and procedures. Responsibilities include managing personnel records, assisting with budgeting, and overseeing documentation. The Administrative Assistant may also support purchasing and accounting functions and will be cross-trained in various tasks essential to the effective operation of the Public Services Division. Job Duties Duties include, but are not limited to the following: • Provides secretarial and clerical support to the unit • Serves as liaison between the program/administrative/technical operation and clients; determines the nature of client’s business and provides appropriate information and assistance. Refers to appropriate personnel when necessary • Proofreads and edits documents for content, context, accuracy and consistency • Copies, distributes and files appropriate letters, memoranda, reports and other materials • Prepares paperwork, sign-in sheets, copies and classroom materials for instructors. Maintains classroom supplies and distributes books • Utilizes a variety of software to produce documents, spreadsheets, visual aids and promotional materials • Manage attendance reports and records • Manages databases and reports for instructional enhancements • Maintains filing and record-keeping systems • Conducts research using a variety of resources to generate reports, solve departmental issues, find new technology solutions • Maintains office supply inventory • Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications • High school diploma or equivalent • Six (6) months of related work experience • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Proficiency in operating computers and job-related software applications • Strong organizational and time management skills Preferred Qualifications • Associate’s degree or higher • Experience in accounting, budgeting, and/or purchasing processes • Professional background in an educational setting • Proficiency with the Banner student records management system • Understanding of law enforcement operations or GA POST requirements Note: Only on-campus opportunities exist at this time. Physical Demands Work is typically performed in an office environment with intermittent sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, or pulling in various settings. The employee occasionally lifts or moves objects of a light to medium weight up to 50 pounds. Full range of hand and finger motion may be utilized for data entry purposes. The employee regularly interacts and communicates with students, employees, and the general public. Salary/Benefits Target salary is commensurate with education and work experience.
