Under the general direction of the Director of the School Facilities and Transportation Services Division (SFTSD), the Staff Services Manager II (SSM II) is responsible for directing and managing the Emergency Services Team (EST) to ensure the effective, efficient, and equitable administration of the California Department of Education's (CDE) emergency management activities. In addition to providing leadership and oversight, the SSM II is actively engaged in carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities of the unit, including the development of guidance materials, coordination with partner agencies, and direct involvement in emergency planning and response operations. The SSM II plays a central role in advancing CDE's efforts in emergency mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery by delivering timely and ac tionable information to local educational agencies (LEAs), supporting their ability to protect students, staff, and school communities. As one of CDE's primary contacts during emergencies, the SSM II is subject to 24-hour on-call status and must be available for disaster assignments with little notice.
